Redefining The Sharks

Created by: PapaJoe19
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 30, 2020
Published: Aug. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Out are Couture, Burns, Vlasic, and Jones while rebalancing the team for the present while jumpstarting the future. Money is retained in all of the deals with other tedious contracts coming back.

Familiar faces return with Dillon and Demelo. Thornton and Marleau return for one last go while solidifying their place in the history books. The team officially becomes Karlsson’s while ushering in a new era of a more balanced roster with some financial freedom in the near future.

I’m sure people will have issues with some of these trade offers while undervaluing the Sharks players and focusing on the contracts. I did my best to be as unbiased in creating these trades while finding situations that would be good fit for those outgoing players.

I think you can only retain money on two players.

Plus, I don't think you get that much back for Burns or Vlasic.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I believe you’re right with the retention. Vlasic & Burns would be the most important to retain on out of the 4, imo.

Honestly, the Wild one was the only one that I would consider.

Sure, Jones did not do fantastic, but should do better with of of the better defensive teams in the leauge and still costs less than Zuccarello.

What makes you say that? They clear out 2 of their worst contracts while clearing out cap space. Most Wild fans seem to want to move Zucc & DD. They also get a 2nd round pick.

This doesn't make any sense for NSH. Why would they swap Turris for an even worse contract, and give up a 1st to do it?

We can buy out Dubnyk for just an 833k cap penalty for one year. Dubnyk's contract is not a concern. Zuccarello still has value as a top 6 player. He's not a cap dump.
Then you're asking us to take back Martin Jones, who IS in fact a worse contract than either of the Wild players, and a true cap dump. No interest in Martin Jones whatsoever. If you want Zuccarello you can pay for him. If not, we'll keep him, we'll buy out Dubnyk, and we'll be just fine. We're not in need of cap space.

Vlasic retained + Tampa Bay 1st round pick vs Alzner and MTL still decline, we don’t want to touch Vlasic at all even if you pay a lot to get rid of him. MTL isn’t the team who will take him

Interesting not a bad effort sharks aren’t the easiest team to work with.

IMO it would take multiple 1sts for MTL to take Vlasic

Zucc doesn't cost them games. Jones would. No thanks!

As a Habs fan, we don't want Vlasic's contract. Having said that, I don't think he's "done" like most make him out to be. Poor guy could be living the Luongo-fever: victim of cashing in on a great contract that might be a little more than he's worth. Don't crap on him, crap on ownership/management for making that offer! Any one of us would've accepted that deal.

Am I missing something, isn't Korpisalo CBJ #1 goalie, why would they trade him?

Columbus probably makes that trade... although there’s 1 issue. You can only retain salary on 3 players and Columbus can’t afford Couture’s frill cap hit.

Limits on retention and Labanc contract is too low. Going to get 3.5-4m per.

Trades aren't awful, but I think Preds are gonna give Turris one more season before a potential buy out

At first I was going to say Columbus ain't about that life, homey... but hmm I don't know. That might get them talking.
