New day new Matthews deal

Created by: TheOtherAuston
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2020
Published: Sep. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm tired of looking at all these AGMs and seeing nothing but the same deals, johnsson liljegren 1st for parakyo. Andersen to Calgary so for the foreseeable future I will do a daily Matthews deal to every team and the impact of spreading the cap out and asset replenishment. Yesterday was Arizona today Anaheim.
Anaheim makes for a terrible partner for a Matthews deal because they already have lots of centers but I will try my best to improve not just the leafs but both teams.

Tampa says thank you and matches, and tampa also accept the cernak deal drafting someone you never heard before who may or may not be a franchise player

That’s what I’m saying there’s no chance he does that and if he did it’d be to stay in Tampa. (gotta love that no state income tax)

But a realistic deal compared to the rest that have pesce and picks coming to Toronto with no RHD going back to Carolina

I highly doubt it tbh that gm might refuse it but the owner would make it happen, only 3 mill in actual salary for a #1 goalie and a lesser Rd replacement.

Just don't do this, trading Matthews us stupid and this return is not worth it. Not even close.

I don't think I've ever seen someone on here justify a trade for one of the best value contracts in the NHL by somehow swindling them into taking an overpaid, much worse replacement, and 1 year of a goalie who's stats last year were worse than either of the goalies that were already in that organization.

Are you confusing the Canes with the Coyotes? Because I don't remember seeing Tom Dundon say anything about having to cut spending...

Like I said in the description, Anaheim is a terrible trade partner for Matthews but I'm still doing a team a day regardless of fit.

Also its not an insanely valued contract. He's a good defender... That's it 4 mill is the norm for a good defender

It’s an easy no. Not trading a decent RD signed long term at reasonable cost for a mediocre starting goalie that is a rental and barely an upgrade over what they have already. C’mon. 🙄. If the can’t re-up Hamilton they are Jets 2.0. Went from so loaded at RD they could not give Trouba top 6 minutes to barren. Canes would be in same boat. It’s bad business. Especially in a goalie rich market.

Apparently you have not followed Carolina since Dundon took over. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is a difference between being cheap and spending money wisely. As a Leafs fan you should be well aware of that.
