The Minny trade could be a huge win for both teams. Minny could roll Danault, Lundell and Eriksson Ek down the middle. Holyyyy those 2 way players

Why are the Wild the only team giving up value?

That Oilers trade is ugly for Montreal. Pittsburgh too to a lesser extent.

Poulin is sure, but you're also taking a pure cap dump back with it, and he's still nowhere near as valuable as one of the best shutdown D in the game.
Puljujarvi has very little value until proven otherwise.

For a Fansided article, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Oilers trade is bad for the Habs, but the Wild and Penguins trades are fair or close to fair imo

Puljujarvi is sure proving it in Finland right now. 24 pionts in 12 games, 2nd guy has 11 points in 7 games.

The Oilers deal would be a worthwhile gamble for Montreal if they decide to keep Domi and actually play him at centre imo (Domi/Suzuki/Kotkaniemi/Evans up the middle, and they get a top RW prospect, something they're lacking, and a reclamation project with 30 goal potential). The Minny deal is obviously good for the Habs too

Yeah producing in Finland was never a problem for him. Liiga isn't nearly as high quality as it used to be and scoring is up. It means nothing until he can prove he can do it in the NHL.

A pure cap dump that is a pending UFA. I’ll be willing to take that, especially if there’s a second rounder involved.

Puljujarvi has very little value until proven otherwise’ I think point per game are in the SM-Liiga counts a second proving it otherwise

Can you back up any of your points?

Unless both Brodin and Danault agree to an extension then this trade gets scrapped. Even if they did extend, 1 for 1 is a losing trade for the Habs. They can keep Brodin in that case and hand over their 2020 1st rnd pick ++ to MTL.

If Brodin and Danault both walk Montreal will have traded their 7D for a middle six winger so it's a win for the Habs. Both teams are taking a risk that the main piece walks in a year but both teams get better this year, and long term if they do resign them, as a result so it really makes a lot of sense. You can't add conditional picks based on resigning anymore so you just have to trust your negotiating team a little bit, not every UFA is guaranteed to leave, hockey's boring, they usually don't if their team actually wants them.

The pens just traded Bjugstad to Minny.
