Zibanejad IMO was a top 10 player in the NHL last year. Doubt the rangers trade him + a high end prospect and picks for 2 rentals that aren’t as good as him.

Zibanjag and his two years till UFA is worth more than one year of Tatar and one year of Denault by himself. And you want the Rangers to include Gauthier, 2 second rounders and top prospect Lundkvist?

We got Weal from Philly for Chaput who was centering our 1st line in the AHL. Look at the Bellmare for Caufield offer, ask yourself if you would do that. Then realize Bellmare is better than Weal and Newhook was the pick after Caufield.

That was the 11-12 season and junior production <> NHL success.

Newhook was also the NCAA frosh of the year, not Caulfield, Not Turcotte. Ridiculous troll offer of Weal and a 5th for Newhook. MTL doesn’t have anybody the Avs would trade one for one for Newhook.

I thought my trade was the worse possible but MTL have players with more value than Newhook. That is just ridiculous. Caufield was playing with one of the worse team and Newhook played with Boston College, one of the best team

Jordan Weal is 28 years old. Jordan Weal has played for 4 NHL teams over 8 seasons. Jordan Weal has never: played more than 70 games in an NHL season; scored double digit goals in an NHL season; scored more than 21 points in an NHL season. I’m sorry, but he’s not a beast. There’s no “risk” to take, because he’s a known commodity. He’s a bottom six forward at best, and a new team isn’t going to do anything to change that.

Alex Newhook is a 19 year old blue chip prospect. He was 9th in NCAA scoring and was the only teenager to finish inside the top 10 - ahead Cole Caufield, Trevor Zegras, Alex Turcotte, and Matt Boldy.

Oh yeah because Turcotte, Holloway, and Miller are awful. Who would COL trade straight up 1 for 1 for Newhook? Not Caulfield, not Romanov because they have Byram, not any of the vet forwards like Gallagher because Newhooks potential and ELC are more important to them, maybe Suzuki maybe.

Maybe overall career but MZ was way better last year imo. I wouldn’t make this trade if I’m the rangers. Both are underrated players.
