That Marner trade is a big time no from both teams. Tor can get SO SOOO much more for him and Col simply can't take on that massive contract. Just like when Tor signed Marleau, Col has cap space now that will disappear almost instantly so they are a bad fit. If Tor wanted to get Zads, they could do so in other ways with picks and/or prospects.

Everything else at least seems reasonable.

OTT declines.

Tierney > Dermott so OTT definitely isnt going to be the one adding picks

Marner only gets traded in a 1 for 1 type of trade like the Jones for Johansen trade. I'd love to see Marner for Ekblad.

Ottawa rejects instantly. Dermott isn't even worth Tierney straight up...

A deal with those two as the main pieces would look more like this

Dermott + Toronto's 2020 2nd round pick (44OA) --> Tierney

Poor Marner, guy is a stud and leafs fans hate him because he had the audacity to use his leverage as a high end player to get a player friendly contract

Both teams decline the Marner deal. Avs cant take on his cap hit and keep all their core guys, and the Leafs are making a huge downgrade from Marner to Burakovsky+Zadorov

It's a crap trade no doubt, but what is the motivation to trade Makar? It's not like Colorado is missing a high end right winger.

That’s some wishful thinking junior. Avs wouldn’t trade Makar straight up for Marner.

Didn't mean straight up, I just meant that would be the asking price from Toronto. Toronto could add Dermott and a pick or something, but they wont be trading Marner unless an elite and at least relatively young RHD is coming in return

TOR can ask that all they want but a $10M winger in a flat cap environment doesn’t have nearly the leverage it would. Regardless COL isn’t trading Makar straight up for anybody realistic.

Dude I see where your coming from but all I'm saying is unless the leafs get a return like that they won't be trading Marner because it just doesn't make sense for them.
