Why would the Jets pay all of that for marner? Marner is a better player but he is double the price better

Tuomisto + 2nd is the equivalent of 2x seconds for Dermott. I don’t believe he holds that value and Detroit should be aiming at acquiring a bonafide top 4 guy via FA (eg Dillon) for cap/cash.

I would be ok with the Wpg trade if Tor threw in a legit RD or take Samberg out of the trade. Perhaps Lilegrin or Holl

The Detroit Red Wings politely decline your offer. Dermott for a 2nd would be a decent trade although I still think that would be too much for the Red Wings to give up but Tuomisto was an early 2nd round pick last year. Asking for essentially two 2nds for Dermott is more than he is worth, therefore the Red Wings decline.

The red wings decline your offer, at this time we are rebuilding through the draft and we need to keep our picks. This player would suit a playoff team better than us anyway

Dermott isn't getting you our 2nd best RD prospect in Antti Tuomisto and a 2nd round pick what a joke.

Tuomisto will likely be better than Dermott one day. And giving up a 2nd on top of that. For a re-building club. geeesh

This is basically structured as a salary savings + upgrade for Winnipeg. Half Marner's money has been paid out already and only has a salary of 700K this year, so this saves them salary in a cash strapped year. Perreault makes too much for what he provides so this included to make the cap works out. If the rest balances out that value is up for debate, but the bones makes sense to me. Leafs can buy out Perreault for the cap space for Pietrangelo, and Winnipeg upgrades and gets cash savings. Looks like a win-win to me.

I don't see Winnipeg trading one of the best value contracts in the league for one of the worst contract values in the league. Especially when they have to give up a good defenseman and 10OA to do it.

Who knows what like 9 Million in cash savings might be worth to Winnipeg?

I think Samberg is in the trade to dump Perrault's contract so basically it's Marner for the 1st and Ehlers. I mean it would depend on how the Jets value Marner, but ya even if he isn't worth that then it shouldn't take more then what you suggested to get it done.
