I've heard reports of an internal budget of around $72M. Might just be trying to meet the pricetag ownership has decreed.

Turris buyout is shocking. 4 years remaining on the deal. Massive cap hit extension

Turris on waivers for buyout.

Bizarre. He was playing a lot at the end for Hynes. Laviolette had him benched.

8 years now his cap hit at 2 million.
And people don’t think OEL will be retained at 2 million for 7 years Lol

I think its more of an internal budget and kicking off a retooling process.

Has nothing to do with OEL. OEL is still a top 20ish player at his position Turris is nowhere near that.

It is a crazy long time to have either buyout charges or retained salary. The Turris buyout surprises me too.

Thanks for ignoring everything I said and taking something out of context.

Simply meant Nashville was so desperate to shed salary that they’ll take dead money over 8 years

Absolutely. Turris is a useful player. This is a clear message that teams will save money above all else forget managing assets

Hard to blame owners at the moment though. Overall the NHL has been a money-making machine for 15 years, but the pandemic has turned off the tap of cash flow for everyone. Some owners will be more frugal than others, but they'll all be looking hard at their bottom line.

Interesting time. I mean I don’t feel bad for the owners at all. They are just trimming the fat. It started with all their part time employees and now their play toys are being fed to the guillotine. Batten down the hatches. The economic issues of this league being gate driven is gonna force a lot more shocking player decisions!

Sure, but that has nothing to do with OEL.
