I'd hate to see the Jets Trade Patrick Laine but with the flat cap and lesser players being had for lower level picks could Improve the Line up overall from a depth Perspective.

I genuinely don’t think there’s a huge difference between Olofsson and Laine. Laine is better but he’s not the player that’s needed in Buffalo.

Its not bad by any means. I still think that the Jets could do better for Laine though.

There is a fairly decent chance that 1st is a top 10 pick so, theres that.

Vegas isn't giving Tuch away.

Cirelli is apparently the next Bergeron so will take much more then just a 1st I'm guessing, doubt TB parts with him anyway.

Rebuilding team gets a 2nd round pick for taking on a cap hit... Seems pretty obvious

They get a 2nd rounder and take on 1 year of salary while they're tanking/rebuilding, very appealing deal

Yeah exactly honestly, I also view Olofsson as sort of the cheap knockoff version of Laine and analytically he's quite bad, with Laine just profoundly mediocre

To my knowledge "future considerations" have at times resulted in no return but I may be mistaken... anyhow they could just add a 7th or an ECHLer

Detroit declines, That doesn't get you Anthony Cirelli. And for 6 x $5 mil Cirelli stays in Tampa.

Same trade as Staal except Perreault makes about $1.5M less and could probably be dealt at the TDL for another late round pick.

If I was a Wings fan I'd like this cap dump trade more then the Staal trade, don't think Detroit got enough for helping out the Rangers.

Perreault actually makes 800k more (4M vs 3.2M) as Staal’s signing bonus has already been paid by the Rags. I’d be open to the trade as I don’t think the value is that bad but I’d hope now Yzerman has more leverage.

Meh, I know some teams have internal caps but the cap hit is what really matters, just think Yzerman didn't get enough for taking Staal from a conference rival that's set to be a powerhouse for a decade.

Yeah, I definitely didn’t like the return on Staal as I was thinking 2x seconds would be about fair value for taking him on. I’m assuming it’s getting harder to move cap based on recent deals (Schmidt, Toews).

Under normal circumstances yes, but they gave Stastny away for a 4th, Schmidt away for a 3rd and still need to clear out 3-4 million in cap space. So either Tuch or Martinez would have to go and Martinez would leave them fairly week on the back end.

Cirellia very well be but with only 8 teams that can take on a 5-6 million dollar player and no on keen on taking on Johnson or Killhorn. Read New Jersey is interested in Killhorn but they want a sweetener to take his contract, it very well may come down to them no having a choice but to move Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak. As it stands right now they can only afford to take on four 700k contracts to stay under the cap with a roster of 22.

There are 8 teams with space to take him on after dealing with there RFAs
Winnipeg, Columbus, Nashville, LA, Buffalo, Jersey, Detroit, Ottawa

Columbus Has Dubois and just aquired Domi
Nashville has Johanson and Duchenne
La is rebuilding
Buffalo has Eichel, Staal and Dylan Cozens
Jersey has Hischier, Hughes and and Zacha and arevarguably in a rebuild still
Detroit and Ottawa are in a rebuild.

Florida does as well but they have an internal cap from what I've read.
