All these trading Toews/Kane trade proposals are fun to do. Some are more plausible than others. Few things though, they're both signed for "only" three more years and are still producing. Kane is still a top forward in the NHL, he's not Lucic or Ladd.
Please note that the Blackhawks have been rebuilding for a few years now, they just didn't call it that.
Most importantly, they're not trading Kane, Toews, Keith or Seabrook at this point for a variety of reason. Seabrook has negative trade value. Keith has some value, but not enough. For Kane and Toews, in a flat cap world no GM is taking on a 10.5M cap hit. I could be wrong but I don't see. There are a few teams with the space, but for example are they really waiving their NMC's to play in Ottawa with that owner? Insert the Discover "No" clip commercial here.
