Hi, totally unrelated to your team, but what is a trade value on Donskoi? I'm guessing he's gonna get moved when Makar needs to get paid.

I'd be okay giving that up but there would likely need to be a roster player or two involved to make the money work

With a flat cap, I don't think there is any trade value for him. Though he may not be worth it, they will likely still be able to afford him given the expiring deals of Saad, Cole, and Calvert. I would try and retain Bellemare as he won't command much of a raise, if at all. My best guess for Landeskog is a deal similar to that of Kreider and Gallagher. Add in the fact that COL will likely lose Toews or Graves to Seattle and there will be money for Makar regardless of whether they move Donskoi.

No one is more obsessed with trading and destroying the avs future for goalies more than other fan bases

Exactly, I’ve never understood stood why people think it’s a good idea to trade some many pieces that your teams future is destroyed (looking at you Coyotes) for one player, just doesn’t make sense to me

The cost has to be enough to basically stop the ducks rebuild. Gibson is the centre of the team going forward and theyre building around him so you’d basically have to make the offer irresistible. Which in turn makes it not worth while for the Avs. Not saying Gibson should return 4 1sts and Newhook; but if you take Gibson from the ducks they basically are going to have be offered a trade they couldn’t refuse.

Shoutout @yikes for my new default Gibson trade answer

As much as I would love Gibson Newhook is in the untouchable group of MacK, Makar, Mikko and Byram. It can’t be said enough how valuable Newhook and Byram are with their ELC’s and ceilings with cap space becoming increasingly scarce. There is also a good chance Baron makes that leap too.

Totally agree. There is just no way you can build a consistent winning team without having good young guys on affordable deals continually coming in to plug holes as older players leave due to diminishing value or pay demands. You have to have those core players then build around them with solid prospects or you're sunk. Chicago proved that, Pittsburgh proved that, Tampa has proven that; in fact, they have too many core players right now! Gotta be smart about how you manage your system and trading away some of your best prospects and 1st round picks for a goalie is not good asset management.
