Switch PIT and PHI and STL and VGK...looks fine...of course any team could flip pending a good run or something

BUF is not going to be last, at the very least Eichel will win us 20 games.

PHI (#6 last year) was only slightly ahead of PIT (#7), and PIT lost key players for extended periods: Guentzal (30 games missed), Crosby (28), Malkin (14), Rust (14), Letang (8) were their top-5 scorers by total points. There's zero doubt in my mind which team is better.

STL (#2) finished well ahead of VGK (#8) last year, and both teams got weaker in the offseason. VGK could well close the gap, it'll be close. Both teams are going to have a hey-dey romping through that weak division in the regular season.

Edmonton was bottom 5 at 5v5 last season, they will more likely miss the playoffs than finish 1st.

Don't see the Hawks finishing ahead of the Wings, Their Goaltending is suspect at best their D isn't much better then ours.

Its a weak division. EDM is the best team there.

They were the #1 team in Canada last year and improved more than any other team in the offseason.

A lot of middle-class citizens for sure, but only one really weak team and they've likely improved over the offseason. It's probably the 2nd hardest division to make the playoffs in but the easiest to place #1.

This isn't the same team that started last season, lol. They have 5 new faces in their top-9 from last October-December, since they added Yamamoto at the end of December 2019 they were the #11 team at 5v5 GF% and the #6 team at winning percentage. Your troll attempts are WAY out of date.

While I don’t agree that Edmonton will miss the playoffs. I also think you know you’re very biased. As a Jets fan, I don’t even see the Jets making playoffs as I view things unbiased. Edmonton isn’t better than Toronto. It’s simple, Toronto on paper is the best team in the Canadian division. They added a really good top 4 dman which is what they were truly lacking. I see Toronto getting 1st and Edmonton getting 2nd.

I wouldn't say it's weak. It could be the 2nd deepest. The Pacific is weak as is the one Tampa is in as well. The other division though is really tough.

Having a high GF% while having a terrible xGF% means the team was just lucky. Edmonton bleeds chances at 5v5 and losing your best defenceman isn't going to help. Especially when you replace him with a guy who can't defend in Barrie. You have two superstars, and then you are weak elsewhere. Your new depth isn't good. It's just cast offs from other teams. Turris is slow, old and terrible and you point to him as the reason you'll be good now. It's just shuffling deck chairs.

Barrie isn't Klefbom's replacement except on the powerplay. "I" am not a part of that organization, but the Oilers aren't weak elsewhere. The new depth is much, much better than the depth that took them to a 1st place finish in the country last year:

Draisaitl: 1.55 P/GP
McDavid: 1.52
* Yamamoto: 0.96
Nugent-Hopkins: 0.94
Kassian: 0.58
Neal: 0.56
* Kahun: 0.55
* Ennis: 0.53
* Turris: 0.50
* Puljujarvi NR

* New from opening night last season. The Oilers have added two top-6 wingers (Yamamoto, Kahun) and a complete 3rd line (Ennis, Turris, Puljujarvi). You can ignore the fact all you like, but the Oilers offensive depth is absolutely better than last season. It's not just shuffling deck chairs.

Boom or bust for PIT this year.

I can see a lot of surprises happening, like then Rangers Battling and the Blackhawks actually doing good. One thing I could picture too is the Capitals really having a down year with Lundqvist not playing after all.

Yeah, surprises happen every year and I don't really have any here. It's pretty much based on last year with some slight movement.

You are certainly hopeful but unfortunately completely misguided and extremely bias. What happened against Chicago proves it all. You just can't live off special teams. The vast majority of game play is at 5v5 and Edmonton had a very bad goal differential at 5v5. Any regression in the special teams and you lose a lot and your new depth is just not good. Kahun doesn't matter, Ennis was a healthy scratch on a deep TO team many times only 2 seasons ago. Barrie needs to be sheltered because his defensive deficiencies are so bad, Turris hasn't been a good player for 4 years and will be bad again this year. Ignoring all the bad and focussing on a small stretch where you outscored your problems doesn't help. Then using that same small stretch to justify your stance while ignoring issues that lead to the competition having less points despite that team fixing those issues is even more silly.

For example, TO was and is a better offensive team. It just can't be disputed, especially since Keefe took over. You can point to defence sure, but again you will use the Babcock games where they were almost the worst defensively and then ignore how Keefe and Campbell vastly improved both departments. Take out Hutchinson and TO was a top 10 team. Under Keefe they were a top 5 team when Hutchinson wasn't in net. Who did they lose? Minor depth forwards they replaced with better character guys. And on defence they lost their two worst defenders (one of which is your new golden boy Barrie) and replaced them with a legit top pair guy, a defending Cup champion bottom pair PK expert and the best defenceman outside of the NHL. Not to mention they have two highly touted prospects waiting in the wings in case of an injury.

And on top of all that, TO had terrible injury issues last season that will surely not happen again.

So in conclusion, Edmonton would need everything to go perfect and better than anyone should reasonably expect and TO and Calgary to have a bunch of things go wrong for them to finish first. What is more likely, TO will have more things go right than wrong this season and they'll have little trouble finishing ahead of Edmonton. I think Winnipeg and Montreal are both deeper and have a better chance of making the playoffs than Edmonton.

Now with all that said, McDavid can almost single handedly get you into the top 4 but come playoff time, the rest of the team just isn't good enough.
