Waiting for Bruins fans to come here and tell us how Bruins are good enough as is.

I can think of 4 Bruins fans off the top of my head that would say "Bruins decline" lol

If he’s seriously only going for a first that’s such a good deal for any team who scoops him. NYR, WIN, and Boston all come to mind

I know, I agree. I think Dunn Carlo would make a great pair.

Two things don Sweeney has made abundantly clear:
1. He doesn’t want to add to the left side.
2. He hates going two years in a row without a first rounder.

For those reasons, it doesn’t make sense. Maybe after the expansion draft if all the bruins young d have crapped themselves.

As much as me and Bcarlo25 argue. He is totally right here

Bruins decline (as Ziggy expected us to say)

and we are right based on EVERYTHING sweeney and Cassidy have said.
Lauzon and Mcavoy are a solid pairing that they like. Zboril and Miller are a plus pairing as well. obviously griz and Carlo are solid... they have Urho ready to play as well. And Clifton, in his two games at LHD in Griz's spot, is also a plus player...

None of those guys with the exception of Gryz can be top 4 on a Stanley cup winning team. A late first for Dunn is an absolute no brainer. Maybe Sweeney doesn’t wanna make the trade, you’re probably right that he doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean that he SHOULDNT

If he didn’t attempt to blow up that vegas Vancouver deal for schmidt, i just can’t see him wanting to offer a first for Dunn.

Like the other poster said, there’s a difference between what he SHOULD and WILL do. He probably won’t make an offer for Dunn, that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t

Here's the problem with this:

1) Seattle expansion

Bruins would now lose a key player after acquiring a long term dman in Dunn. Bruins not going for a long term LHD in the offseason is greatly due to this draft

2) The young guys

Bruins made it clear they want to see what they have in this young D corpse. They've been great so far.. I'm not suggesting it will last the whole season because there's plenty of time for them to hit a wall. But I can't blame them seeing what they have in their system after going a few years without playing them.

Finally,

It's not that we don't want Dunn. I think he'd be awesome in this system. It's just this team really can't afford to make such a deal before the expansion draft. I think after, this is a move he'd make 10 times out of 10. A fellow Bruins fan mentioned above that the GM completely hates the idea of going back to back years without a first round pick when this future is already in question.

You're right though- This is a trade Sweeney SHOULD make, but he won't due to these circumstances. Who knows though, we may have these good defenseman in Lauzon, Zboril, Vaakanainen....there may be no need to address LHD in the offseason. But if Dunn still somehow manages to be available in the offseason, I bet Sweeney pulls the trigger. I don't think Dunn will be available by then though.

What is a worse scenario. Losing Grizz In the expansion draft and having Dunn Lauzon Zboril Urho still.

Or losing Lauzon and having Grizz Zboril Urho late 1st in a shallow draft?

They are going to lose a good young player regardless barring a trade. The more you have the better insulated you are at the expansion draft.

Another option: after adding Dunn trade Grizz/Kase for a RW for DK46

1. Bruins are NOT good enough as is.
2. Bruins decline.

How does adding a 5-6 D man make the Bruins any better? He's not a top 4 because if he was St.Louis would be playing him over 20 minutes/game and not trading him as they chase the Cup.

You mean the coach who lead them to a Stanley Cup 2 years ago. He's a poor coach? Top 4 D man who can't even get 2M on his second contract and only 1 year term. Did not get a contract befitting a top 4D.

Mike Sullivan has two cups under his belt and still constantly makes poor coaching choices. Berube isn’t immune because he has a cup. He’s a good coach, but should play Dunn more. He’d be Boston’s #1LHD that’s forsure
