I think the Jets are going to keep Paul for the year at least, but its an interesting idea.

Winnipeg finally has center depth, I don't think they're going to give that up.

WPG definitely would add here imo but I like the gist of it. I posted something similar a few days ago that didnt involve Compher but depending on what WPG adds I might like this one even more

Not that enthusiastic about a Paulie reunion especially at that price.

Yeah I think WPG adds too, but I left lesser pieces out as I didn't want the discussion to get bogged down on the valuation of a pick.

Winnipeg would get a LHD which they need, along with a 3rd line replacement for Stastny, in what is roughly equal swap capwise. With Copp and Lowry they'd still have a solid 3C in the team.

Colorado would solve the 3C issue, at least this season which is obviously the focus here. Moving Compher and Graves would also give them a tonne of flexibility with the cap for the next two seasons as well, which would be important to factor into the trade valuation. Personally I wouldn't be too worried about the valuation of the additional pick because I think there's a lot of value in the cap saving aspect as well.

Avs would probably need to add a Dman under contract for 2021/22 to expose in the expansion draft, but I didn't see a piece on WPG that would make sense for that purpose.

Just don't see this as a wise move for the Jets, if one of Dubois or Scheifele gets hurt they have backup in Stastny, they'd be foolish to trade that backup/insurance.

I think given age / purely rental - gotta be some picks tossed in too and or a claim bait for Seattle

Hockey wise it might favour WPG. But keep in mind that there's value in having $6.6m in capspace opened up in the offseason by moving Graves and Compher.

If Colorado move Graves we'd probably need to acquire a Dman to expose to Seattle, unless EJ waives of course. I just don't see a Dman who would fit that on this WPG team, so it would be in a separate transaction.

Colorado shouldn't be so quick to move Graves, Byram is going to be a top D man, but he's got a lot of developing to do. COL should be trying to keep their depth, not lose it.

Byram does indeed have some developing to do, but right now is already in our top 4 and not looking out of place at all. The kid is legit, and won't be going anywhere.

Toews --- Makar
Byram --- Girard
Graves --- Johnson
Gilbert --- Timmins
Pateryn

Ideally we wouldn't lose our depth on D, but we have 7 Dmen capable of playing in the top 4, so it makes sense to use a Dman (either Graves or Timmins) to acquire a middle 6 C and thereby fix the issues with our 3rd line.

Given the teams injury history, keep the depth. This team was pegged to play Tampa if half the team didn't get injured.

I agree, I think the Avs lack of D depth really effected them in the playoffs.
