I'd love Jarvis in NSH, but the UFAs don't really have any value to the Preds. Just Jarvis isn't enough.

13 oa prospect for 1.5 years of a forward who wont return is a pretty good price for them

Jarvis is an OVERPAY! At 19 he was the top scorer in the AHL during his stint there. Forsberg never showed that kind of promise. That is NOT worth it for Carolina. Anything that starts with Jarvis for Forsberg should be laughed away by Waddell.

forsberg has been PPG (or right near it) in the NHL multiple times lol, career 60 point NHLers arent cheap

1.5 years of forsberg is good and jarvis should be enough cuz he is a blue chip prospect so for 1.5 years of a player who wont return to Nashville is plenty. maybe another prospect but it should be enough for forsberg

Ottawa counters with Matt Murray for Marty Necas. Why in a million years would Ottawa trade Brannstrom for Mr. Inconsistent

it is proven that ottawa doesn't utilize him and mrazek will be their best goalie. canes maybe add a pick or a prospect but bannstrom isn't being used right in ottawa

Won't return? What does that mean? He's not even a UFA.

It's not like a 13th OA pick is guaranteed not to bust or anything. It'd be foolish to trade a star player for a single prospect. That's a huge amount of risk for NSH, and while Jarvis looks very promising the odds of him maybe being as good as Forsberg someday are quite slim. That's not a knock against Jarvis - that's just because of the unpredictability of prospects in general.

Forsberg returning. he is also comfortable with Nashville prospects so it isn't much of a scenery shift for him. look at how he was tearing up the AHL as a 19 year old and imagine him as a 20/21 year old in the NHL. he has proven himself on every level except the NHL.

Daniel Carr also lead the AHL once

I like Jarvis and I do think he will be a very good player. But AHL success doesn’t guarantee anything

No guarantee he would want to re-sign. You pay for the term and the deal involved. Not for the extension that you could maybe sign him to.

Yeah he can be good. But you don't know what you're getting year in year out. He hasn't strung two good years together in like 6 years. I'd take him over Matt Murray in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't move Brannstrom for him. Also Ottawa have enough young options for a backup that adding a goalie isn't in the cards.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying that forsbergs value is quickly diminishing as the games go by and his value will keep falling before Nashville trades him. not cuz he is bad but cuz he wont have term. if he had 3 years then yes way more but cuz he doesn't have term he isn't worth an extended forward of his caliber.

Brannstrom is going to be fine long term. He plays well. Got no concerns on that front, even if him being scratched is infuriating. It won't last.

What does age have to do with it. The point is AHL success and NHL success are not always a direct correlation. Same with KHL, NCAA, etc

End of the day, value is made up and fluctuates. Value is what someone is willing to pay. No one on the board knows what a GM is willing to pay for better chance at a cup or 2.

Washington once paid for a declining Martin Erat who was a rental and demanded to be traded with a Filip Forsberg.

Yeah I understand that you're talking about Forsberg not returning, but where are you getting that from?

Nine games in a weakened AHL (the taxi squad situation this year robs the AHL of ton of players who would normally be there) is a pretty insignificant sample size. I wouldn't start work on Jarvis' HHOF plaque just yet.

i know what u mean but Nashville is shopping forsberg which means he definitely does not want to return. the fact that there r so many forsberg rumors is proof he prolly wont resign

Canes perspective:

1st Trade: We don't need Gibson, so, NO
2nd Trade: Don't wanna give up Petr but who's complaining with that offer, YES
3rd Trade: I was hoping only a 3rd for E. Staal but I wouldn't hate a 2nd, MEH
4th Trade: Get out of town. Not a CHANCE we are trading Jarvy. He has already risen up the rank from his draft position and Is just... Insane. Especially not for a year or 2 of Forsberg. HARD NO.

So... I wouldn't trade for Gibson. I wouldn't trade away Mrazek. A bit much for Staal. And we are not in any circumstance trading Jarvis.
