Why would Vancouver trade a young cornerstone #1 D who hasnt even reached his prime, whos got Norris potential for an aging D man on a TERRIBLE contract and Hertl who is UFA in a year?

I would love Boeser in Ottawa, but Boeser for Batherson isn't that big an upgrade to Batherson. The gap between Brannstrom and Woo is way bigger than the gap between Boeser and Batherson.

If Boeser is made available Ottawa should definitely be interested though.

A lesser LD that skates poorly is of no interest to the Blues. Make it Jett Woo and we can probably talk.

Quinn Hughes isn't actually a 1D tho, he's more like a 2/3D.

Brannstrom + for Boeser is the only way I'd do that trade. Batherson is not going to be moved he just broke out and is only going to get better.

Offensively he's generationally good ✔

Defensively he's just meh ✔

Still a 1D all told the offense outweighs that hugely

One could be a 1st pair D and suck defensively

Why would Wings take on 6 million in cap for a 2nd and a 3rd. And do not bring up Staal. He was a position on need. Eriksson is a press box player no need for that.

Also do not bring up cap.floor. wings have three RFA's in Bertuzzi, Vrana and Hronwk. Those 3 will eat up upwards of 15 million. That leaves Wings some 20 million under the cap floor with only 13 players. So that will not be an issue either.

I think Boeser > Batherson today, but Batherson will be more valuable going forward. So I'd probably add to that one if I did again.

Hughes is quite overrated. On this deal the Canucks improve their offense and defense. Its a very good deal for Vancouver if they can resign Hertl.
