Jones has been fairly open about resigning with Columbus, he probably wont sign long term in Canada though

Jackets would get more than that if they made him available, add your 1st this year and it's close

The opinion on Jones “publicly” is mixed; but the opinion internally in Columbus is not. Face of the team, and even bigger for the team on ice.

You’d have to pry him from them, not just toss a lowball hoping to land.

Jets would never do this. Jones is so overrated. Huge overpay. Heinola is untouchable

Very rarely does a player admit to wanting to change teams. This current edition of CBJ, I can believe Jones would welcome to play elsewhere, regardless of what he says publicly.
CBJ have a big decision this off season. Do they trade Jones or get a pretty return or just hope he resigns?

On CapFriendly for years, we read how great the CBJ Dmen are.....Jones, Werenski and Savard. Somehow the "greatness" of their play has rarely meant more than just middling success.

This is hardly a low ball offer.

As I said; our opinions do not matter. The Jackets would need a mighty offer if he plans on staying (which it hasn't been reported that both sides are on different pages, so we should assume both parties are on good terms). A good -> great prospect (Ive never been a huge fan on Ville but hes def high value), and a LATE 2022 first which we can presume the Jets already being good - get much better with Jones steadying out their D. So yeah Id call it a lowball... seeing as how you could probably get a handful of better offers or better singular quality.

Obviously our opinions don't matter but we're on here giving them.. Lol

Disagree, it's a good offer, don't see them getting much better.

Kind of like the Leafs' forwards in that regard, right? smile

There's no #1C. It's a lowball offer.

No one is trading a 1C for a UFA dman.

An extension could be in place, I don't think they get a one 1c but they need better quality than this to move Jones

Teams aren't selling the farm for a rental,
an A-prospect, 1st and decent 3rd liner is a fair return for a UFA.
Do you think they'd get Eichel for him?

Personally not really, but I also think the Sabres would want more which is why the jackets wouldnt because in the jackets eyes theyd probably be close value.

But I also think Jones is not a good target for an Eichel sale. If Im the sabres and the dumpster fire we are; were technically restarting a rebuild if we sell Eichel (because you have a basically franchise level 1c that you need to sell). Were rebuilding a rebuilding team lol like thats brutal. So taking LA for example I would want:

their first
high value prospect
change
change

just depends on whats involved. Like Kailyev or Turcotte (assuming Byfield is untouchable), 8th OA seems like a great starting point for Eichel

@MisstheWhalers comment edit
then talking cbj, Id want a prospect, first, and change so using the same team:

The lesser of Turcotte Kailyev like IDK whos better exactly in teams eyes but the better would be for eichel and lesser for Jones
2022 protected first top 5-10 protected
decent prospect (not a high end guy but someone worth mentioning)
3rd pair D?

Im going to assume kailyev is higher value but Turcotte had a ton of hype (still does id say but not near as much as the past)

but as I said maybe I just view Turcotte and Kailyev much higher than Ville - but i value them as basically S tier prospect whereas IMO i saw/ see Ville as a A

So things may change around the deadline. But in the offseason, the price is #1C or no deal.
