We have to go back to go forward

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 16, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We have a good foundation of future players, but this is not a team that will take the next step towards being a contender without leaning into the rebuild. That is to say that we need some high end talent that you can only get through the top of the draft. If we commit to the rebuild we should be all into it, not trying to half ass it to get to the playoffs one before realizing later that we need to rebuild again. I’m not trying to say I would be happy about moving on from these guys, I do think this is the correct move for the future success of the franchise.

Agreed. Hawks won't be a conteder as long as Toews, Kane, and Kieth are here. If it was just Kane it would be a a different story. Toews and Kieth are the problems though not Kane. Hawks have a good young core but lack a top pair LD and top 6 RW. Both of those won't be easy to get

I think that's a pretty well worked deal with Philly if Chicago is willing to accept that Patrick is a bit of a project now unless all he needs is a change of scenery. Honestly it's probably a bit in Philly's favor maybe take out the fourth and call it even? break the trade down as Murphy for 13OA and Strome for Patrick and a 3rd

And we won't get low enough to get a top pick with them there unless we win lottery like we did with Dach. Going to have to Give to Get for those 2 positions of need.

Ya I don't think that's a good trade for NY because they lose too many pieces. But I also think Kane would fetch I way better package than that. It's a weird one lol.

As much as Murphy would fit a need in PHI, I cant see them wanting Strome. PHI doesn't lack forwards and csant take that much salary. Patrick and a 3rd for Murphy maybe, but cant see PHI wanting/needing Strome, and especially not at the cost of a good 1st rounder.

13OA in a draft that has barley been scouted and these player haven't really had the chance to play in some cases the WHL is the only

13OA in a draft that a good amount of players haven't played in over a year and haven't been scouted due to the pandemic murphy is a solid second pair option the defense needs to be reshaped we all thought that Myers was a good second pair guy but after this season I wouldn't mind having him on the third pair to at least start. Obviously bigger moved need to be made but this draft is going to be more of a gamble then it normally is. This team doesn't need more prospects it need impact players now unless they see a potential top pair RHD I wouldn't mind them moving the pick

We can absolutely move the pick but not for a meh middle pair guy. And i'm pretty sure scouts know who should be in the top 15 and who the top players are even without getting a normal look at them. @13 we would expect to get a guy who has top pairing potential or top line potential. We should be looking at guys like Dumba or Seth jones with that pick (and probably more), not Murphy.

Unfortunately I don't think Jones is an option apparently they are looking for a !C for him as for Dumba I'd be fine with a move for him I just don't know how him and Provorov would play together

With Murphy we are literally giving Provy the same crap he has had outside of Niskanen. A guy that shouldn't be playing 20+ minutes a night but is forced to because we have nobody else that can do it. If we can't get someone who can legit play top pairing then we don't need to spend draft capital or overpay a UFA. Another year without will suck but so would paying someone who can't do the job.

I don't view Murphy as a top pair guy like I said I se him as a second pair guy until Myers proves he's a second pair guy or better after the season he just had he should start next year on the third pair the main priority should be a number 1 RHD but I still think there are other additions to be made on the right side of the defense Braun was good this year but I don't know if they can depend on him to be a top 4 guy again next season and he's not making so much money that I'd have a problem with him being a seven I only see Murphy as a guy who could be brought in and honestly what I liked most about this deal is bringing in Strome. He's produced way better than Patrick and would help solidify 3C IF they want to keep Laughton on the wing

edit: I didn't realize how much Strome was making that kind of ruins the purpose of the deal in my eyes
