Description
What's everybody's thinking about Kaprizov, Fiala and Eriksson Ek? I've pencilled in some numbers but want to hear what people who know what they are talking about are thinking.

I've given Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek bridge deals but Fiala a long-term one. I'd like input on both money and time.

Kaprizov is going to get max term and it's going to be expensive only one year under his belt, but he holds all the cards.

don’t know anything but after putting up close to a point per game as a rookie (and with the khl pedigree to make it seem like not a fluke) i’d find it surprising to see kaprizov get less than 6 on a bridge

You would think Minni has to lock up Kaprivov for as many years as possible. Ouch some long term deals are hurting Minni. Maybe Dumba has to go if only for cap reasons.

Wild will not under any circumstances sign kaprizov to bridge deal. Wild aren't taking chance of him walking to free agency. Wild already offered him 8 years for 46 mil

Joel Eriksson Ek is same thing. Wild are locking home up long term

Fiala isn't getting long term contract

Kaprizov: 5 x $7.5m-$8m
Fiala: 4-6 x $5.5-$6.5m
JEE: No clue. Cirelli money on a bridge, or whatever Danault's contract is with lots of term. I'm leaning towards a 1 year prove it deal since the jump in his scoring was so large this last year.

Kaprizov was apparently offered 8x8 and declined. So I’m assuming the wild are looking long term, and the price is likely 9 million. Ek is getting a long term deal as well. No idea how much. Fiala probably bridged at like 5.35 million for 2 years. I have no idea though.

Russo reported that Kaprizov has already been offered North of 8 million for 8 years. He hasn't signed that though so I'm guessing he doesn't want that much term. He also says he loves it in Minnesota. Best guess it will be a 4 or 5 year deal how much AAV not sure. All the contracts will be based on Kaprizov number after that.
Ek will be offered something long term and if it's less than 4.25 AAV I will be shocked.
Fiala is the least talked about but best guess puts him at 6 million AAV over 4 years.
Fiala and Dumba are kinda rumored to be two of the pieces Wild would offer up for a Eichel deal, but just a rumor or possibly speculation, and of course none of that pertains to this thread.

Trying and doing are different things. If he gets Kaprizov for an 8 year max deal that's pushing $10m/yr. That doesn't leave much cap to get a longterm deal done with JEE, not to mention Fiala needs to get a contract too. If JEE takes a $4.5m x8 you run with it, but if it's looking like $7.5m+x8 then you go much shorter term.

These guys (their agents mostly) should be looking at now and their next contracts:
- 8 year deals take them to 32yo and less chance to be a big payday.
- 5 year deal puts them at 29yo and a good chance of another big payday.

MN really has no money until the Parise/Suter contracts end. Zucc is gone the year before, and Spurgeon loses his full NTC around that time too. That's $21m ($28m counting Spurgeon) in old guy cap gone. MN just needs to get to that point without destroying the team to stay under the cap.

Have you looked at the evolving hockey forecasts for Kaprizov? $9.7m on a max term deal. JEE is higher than MN fans want to see too.

So I think that of the cap is really going to stay flat for 4 years, we might see more team friendly numbers than we think. The easiest of the bunch is Fiala at 5.5 mil over 5 years. That’s the Teravianen deal that was signed under the current cap and the numbers are pretty damn close. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see them squeeze him for 3 years by 5 mil.

As for Ek, let’s establish that he is not Cirelli and he has not put up Cirelli offensive numbers. EW has him at 4.4 mil over 4. I think Ek is the kind of guy you try to get max but term for and anything under 7 would be good there but I don’t think the team can afford that. I think you’ll see 5 mil by 6 if he gets term.

KK is weird. I was originally max term 9 mil per but I think 5-6 years under 8 mil would be the best to compete right now with the extra cap room. It’s great for KK since he gets another payday and the Wild compete now.

JEE gets at least Cirelli's deal. His 5v5 offensive numbers are actually better than Cirelli's for the last 2 seasons. It's crazy but they have a difference of 51 secs 5v5 ToI over the last 2 seasons.

compare

His one-ice is better and d-zone stats are better (with a much worse goalie for one of the seasons)

The biggest problem with Kaprizov taking a 2 year deal is he can then accept a 1 year qualifying offer on his next deal and be a UFA in only 3 years.

I don’t think the Cirelli comparison is crazy, but Ek has not put up the same numbers and that matters. Plain and simple. His agent will use that as a comp but the only way he gets that is with term, which is a perfectly fine outcome.

It's why I think 5 years is the sweet spot for him.

The last 2 years he has though. The difference in their points over the last 2 years is a handful of 2nd assists on the PP. 2 years it the length of JEE's current contract. Using the stats before that won't work for the next contract. Also Cirelli took a sweetheart 3 year deal for all RFA years. JEE signs a 3 year deal and he's a UFA.

Plus JEE has the team over a barrel even more than Kaprizov does. If JEE took his ball and went home MN has Rask and Sturm as their centers next year.

I would fully expect to see kaprizov take a 5ish year deal around 8.6-9, jee 6pr so and fiala possibly traded for a top 6C if not dumba. Otherwise they try and sign fiala 7-8 years around 6-6.5 if they are lucky. A Marchand sized deal

I think of the 3 RFAs, Ek is the guy I'd love to see signed for 8. I think we're only starting to see the player he is and he's going to get better still, so having him signed until he's in his early 30s now would be a win if the cap hit makes sense.
