Such a wtf trade

3 useless contracts for 1 useless contract
9OA and 2nd next year. Were talking about Vancouver and the best draft (maybe ever?) so the 2nd might as well be a 15th OA this year.

$6Mx1+$3Mx1+$3Mx1+$1Mx6 (retention) = $7.25x6

Well I feel like retaining long term should come at a premium and that didn’t happen, they lost out on value but Nucks are f*cked long term so it’s lose-lose

I’d say that a top 10 pick and a 2nd isn’t [paying] a premium. Plus I don’t think about it as keeping $1.25 million in cap for 6 years, the Coyotes see it as losing $7 million in cap for 6 years. They were going to need to retain no matter what, or pay the entire contract themselves.
