The 4 front runners for Seth Jones according to rumors

Blackhawks, Kings, Flyers, Avalanche

The fylers (and maybe the avs) are the only ones that make sense to me.

Why would the hawks or kings want him? They're rebuilding.

Blackhawks and Flyers were already heavily rumored so that's no surprise. Kings seem a bit random. The avs came out of nowhere too and they don't need him anyways. Does this mean they may be considering letting Makar go for a high compensation?

The Avs are a bit weak on the right side so it wouldn't surprise me if they want Jones

Looks like they're in for a cap crunch, then. I can already envision that CBJ would want Newhook+ for rental Jones. Hopefully Colorado doesn't overpay though.

Also if they get Jones, Graves is definitely going somewhere whether it's Seattle or in a trade to another team.

I think Philly or Blackhawks would make the best/most reasonable offers.

Blackhawks would offer Strome+
Phily would offer Patrick+

Issue is Patrick is basically texier and his position with the CBJ has been coming into question. Columbus needs a ready now top 6 center. Nolan is more of a 3c candidate and maybe can push for top 6 in 3 years.

Now Chicago's Strome also could be problematic as he was pushed out of his spot by Pius Sutter and played mostly wing like RNH did in Edmonton.

The way I see it is that Strome And Patrick could use a change of scenery and have a chance to breakout in Columbus.

Columbus won't be good next year and don't have any top 6 centers. Take a chance and put Patrick or Strome as 1C next to Bjorkstrand and Laine and see what happens

even as a rental he does not fit unless they move Johnsson

cause remember Makar + Landeskog + Grubaurs new deals are gonna eat a ton of their cap space especially Makar.

Even if all took discounts they would still not be able to easily afford him

Makar 8-9mill
Grubaur 5-6mill

cause Colorado wont be comfortable running a 21 man roster given injuries seem to run rampant with that teams playstyle

What should Flames attempt to do this off-season? Who should they go for? Trade for? Trade away? Give me your opinions

Trade away Monahan for either youth or a better 1C (maybe Kuznetsov but they could still shop elsewhere). I just think they should start edging their way towards a rebuild by getting younger and attempting to build around Tkachuk. They're offseason should be interesting to say the least.

I called it a rebuild but I guess you could consider it more of a retool. They've just gotta shake things up a bit.

I wonder if CBJ is getting an exception in the expansion draft due to Kivlenieks' passing as I don't think they can fill the exposure requirement rule in terms of goalies?

I dunno if NHL has a code of how to go through things during such hard time. Can't see them force CBJ to acquire a goalie, that's just wrong.

Just rebuild imo. Can't see true potential in that core, but you have solid assets to move and start building through youth.

They're slowly becoming the epitomy of mediocrity in this league. which is a shame since CGY is probably my favorite Canadian team.
