I would agree with that order for the groups, Canada-USA and Sweden-Finland are close though

I didn't mean them to be in order

But I actually agree with my order (except Finland over Sweden)

Comment your Predictions for Team Canada’s goals per game:

Considering they play a game against China, it could be astronomical. But I have a feeling that they’ll take their foot off the gas once they get up by 8 or 9 goals. Unlike the women’s hockey where you see teams scoring 20+ goals in a game.

Just hoping that China gets humiliated into oblivion tbh.

And with what cap space, if Kk barely fits at 6.1, how does 10mil Eichel work

So it’s been almost a day. The habs have likely had their team conversation, and since it’s the off-season there’s no advantage to waiting the week out, so could you maybe just match the offer sheet right now pretty please?

Probably dumping Byron and/or Drouin to Buffalo since they don’t care about cap space. KK would likely be in that package, allowing Buffalo to match the offer sheet as well. Either that or Montreal is where he catches his next flight to Calgary wink

I’m assuming it would have to be not matching KK and trading Drouin. Which would be an absolute nightmare.

Also, nice user flair.

There's going to be some cap going to Buffalo in trade.

Yep, even if Berg makes the room you got Suzuki next year and he wont come cheap either

Plus the price to get Eichel wont be cheap sure it wont be as high as if he was healthy but its still not gonna be a bargain

If Bergevin traded for Eichel, he’s basically going all in and letting next year be someone else’s problem. Our prospect pool would be decimated and we’d have no cap space.

Eichel to Montreal would be the best landing spot for ALL parties involved:

Eichel goes to an actually good and competitive team
- they may need a stop gap to help them until Eichels healthy like a early acquisition

Eichel leading Montreal is a huge W, it’s a good fit imo

Buffalo gets quality assets
- Montreal could send KK
- Montreal also has quality prospects readily available to trade

Carolina loses out on Eichel and KK

MTL can also send drouin with KK to Buffalo or atleast Montreal can easily fit either KK or Eichel by moving Drouin plus KK for Eichel.

If I’m Montreal I’m going in on Eichel, LTIR till playoffs aka Tampa; and hopefully ease Eichel in at 2 or 3 C in the playoffs and you’ve got a wicked lineup.

I also think Montreal can figure out the financials next year, if it means losing some depth next year but winning a cup this year than it’s worth it. A huge gamble either way tho.

Montréal can’t trade Kotkaniemi for another year, and Montréal would be devastating their franchise for every season beyond this one.

Not really :

Don’t match the offer sheet

Flip 2 firsts for Eichel, 2-3 prospects and Drouin

For example;

Poehling (he’s very expendable imo)
Ylonen (he’s expendable imo)
Tuch (a project with term)
Drouin
2021 First (CAR) (Top 3 Protected)
2021 First (MTL) (Unprotected)

I still see a strong prospect pyramid and owned picks after this trade..

Don’t really see a issue especially if Montreal wins a cup - deal with the financials if you win the cup. Which can happen especially with Eichel. Plus Hoffman, Toffoli, Anderson, etc etc are all Montreal’s depth are quality players with decent to great contracts. I don’t see a issue if Montreal needs to move money.

A note: I’m pretty sure that Eichel’s new agent, Pat Brisson lives in Québec.

You’re still ignoring the fact of next year’s cap situation. Nor do I think Buffalo accepts that.

Drouin has a m-ntc. And for sure Buffalo be on that list.

Doubt he waives

It’s a very rough example - just pointing out that of the teams that could acquire Eichel, Montreal isn’t a far fetched example. Not saying this all happens in reality.

But it’s not a bad idea for Montreal to attempt to win a cup.

My point still stands that acquiring Eichel would devastate our future.

I would call devastate an exaggeration imo.

I don’t think keeping the million depth wingers is necessary if it means acquiring Eichel and running at a cup

Eichel to Montreal does make pretty much no sense, there aren’t many worlds where Bergevin doesn’t match imo

Also, yeah, i changed it temporarily, makes a lot more sense to have this flair

It's not going to be as good as 2016, but you still have guys like Makar, Barzal, McAvoy, Fox, Tkachuk, Hughes

McAvoy, Fox, Makar would all defiently be selected by their home country team.

Am I wrong to draw a parrallel between McAvoy's and Ekblad's styles?

Both elite defensive d-man with awesome offensive upside, both have good size and they're both right handed. I personally believe McAvoy is a step ahead but they definitely both are among my favorite defenders in the league.
