Let me help you… yes you want Eichel. That is about the bare minimum that he gets as a return. Still within reason.

I don't know if I can field a team in Year 2 with him

This doesn’t work money wise. They’ll only have 189k to sign/re-sign 6 starting players.

You would need to trade Zucc, which would be do-able. But then you also have to lose Dumba or Fiala, or basically everyone else. My vote would be on Dumba. Dumba+Zucc+Bonino would clear enough. But you really really need youngsters to step up.

That's more or less exactly what I would expect from Minni except id include Rask in the trade for salary purposes.

I figure

One of Rossi/Boldy
One of Fiala/Greenway
Two firsts
Rask as salary filler

Fiala and Greenway aren't even remotely on the same level value-wise.

Kaprizov won't sign for 7.5M...he thinks too highly of himself...I would imagine you would have to beef up your trade offer for Eichel.

2 of Rossi/Addison/Boldy
1st round pick X2
2nd round pick (possibly X2)
1 of Fiala/Greenway ***

Sounds crazy but you are trading for Jack Eichel..franchise centre who Buffalo is not going to let go for cheap...have to ask yourself if he is worth it for all of that or if you can snag someone in Free Agency within the next few years for cheaper who could be just as good? Don't want to rip apart the team for just Eichel alone...tough one...

Im aware but I (a) didn't realize Fiala picked it up so well second half and Greenway cooled off so much second half and b think Fiala gets a little more love than he deserves.

But I'm also just a big Greenway fan. I'd love to have him

Many have said Greenway could turn into a Tom Wilson type player moving forward in future years..lots to like about him.

He thinks too highly of himself to be the fourth highest paid left wing in the league (fifth if you count Giroux as a Left wing)?

Honestly I think Fiala is criminally underrated nationally. The dude can change games, he's absolutely electric. Problem is that he was stuck with bottom 6 players the entire year and nobody on his line could finish his plays. Greenway is a decent player but ultimately I don't think he's ever more than a middle 6 guy. Fiala is absolutely a top line player.

Fiala is a top line player, but a top line winger also isn't as good as most people think.

Perhaps it's just that the leafs really need a guy like Greenway that makes me appreciate him so much more (I say as a Leafs fan)

Exactly my point, he thinks to highly of himself for 7.5M and is obviously worth more than that despite playing 55 games at almost a PPG rate. I would hope he can continue that..

Greenway has his role and has some upside, but he’s significantly behind Fiala in value. It’s not even close. Fiala is a legitimate gamebreaker and play driver.

Fiala puts up similar numbers to guys like Boeser, Tkachuk, Svechnikov, Gaudreau, Nylander, Barzal, Couturier and Ehlers while playing with bottom six players. He's ahead of guys like Reinhart, Laine, Forsberg, Kuznetsov. All of those players play with their teams best forwards. If you gave Fiala similar linemates to those types, he'd be putting up top 20-25 numbers league wide. Probably point per game paces.

The reason Fiala and Kaprizov don't play together is because the Wild coaching staff wanted to spread the offense across lines, rather than have one super line and not much else. The fact that they're considered roughly equal offensive talents should tell you what you need to know.

Fiala is dangerously good at generating offense and very few people outside of Minnesota realize that because they look at the stat lines and see that he's "nothing special", rather than watching him play and understanding the context behind the numbers.

I don't see how Minni can afford Eichel with this type of trade, when in next couple of season Suter and Parise buyouts costs considerable more cap.

We can't. We're already at the cap with this roster, we'd need to shed at least 8M next season. Which means we need to shed 10M, because you need replacements for the guys you get rid of. So that likely means Dumba and Zuccarello are both gone with no cap coming in, and we don't have the assets to keep replacing these guys internally.

You might be able to trade Dumba without cap being returned but certainly not Zuccarello. Really Minni can't (shouldn't) obtain Eichel. I like a Eichel a lot especially a healthy Eichel, but seems like Minni is somehow going to cobble together a few centres at a cheap. I know it's not the same but in baseball instead of having a 10m relief pitcher and four others at 1m. Try having 5 at 3m
I don't think Eichel is going put Minni over the top, and then Minni has traded away four good young assets, and taken on cap too if they trade for him

Yeah, that was my concern as well. That's why I did this version. I wanted to see how ugly it would get with a fair payment for Eichel. The answer is, if we do that, we can't pay anyone else. So... Eichel is officially off the table as far as I'm concerned.

He frequently disappears for multiple games in a row and too often is just randomly floating around the offensive zone.
