Yeah it was a rough night for Acciari. He gloved a slapshot from I think Sergachev earlier in the game too. It seemed like he was in pain before he hit the ice, so I'm not exactly sure what happened. Hopefully nothing serious.

The blindside hit on Joseph missed the head, so whoever threw that should be ok. But the next 2 preseason games and 4 regular season games are going to be ugly I think. If we meet in the playoffs again, both teams might eliminate each other.

The Panthers had several incredibly dirty hits in the playoffs-Duclair had an outrageous slash of Kucherov (who didn't even have the puck at the time) which forced him to leave Game 4 and cross-checked Stamkos from behind into the boards in game 3, Pat Hornqvist blindsided Sergachev in the head in game 4 as well.
There's a difference between a series being extremely intense and physical (but not with cheap shots), like Lightning-Islanders was, and a team just playing dirty like the Panthers.

Gusev released from his PTO

Made sense as at even strength he did not look good at all. Was good on the PP but leafs dont need a specialist.

Off to the KHL he goes unless another NHL team sees something we didnt lul

Seattle is going to have no problem making the playoffs this season. The defense/goaltending is solid and their 1st line of Schwartz-Mccann-Eberle has the potential to be a top 15 1st line in the league.

You’ll see - they have a lot of underrated players and as far as I know they don’t have any liabilities in their D or F core. Elite defensive team + solid goaltending + underrated 1st line will have them finishing top 3 in their division.

I mean they could be, but only if they find a Tatar - Danault - Gallagher level of chemistry. Because otherwise they don’t hold a candle to the offense of most other first lines, and aren’t phenomenal defensively either.

Off-topic, but 1984 is one of the greatest pieces of literature ever written (up there with the likes of Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Gone with the Wind). Orwell foresaw exactly what would happen today in 1949. 1949!!!! Insane. The man was almost a modern-day prophet.

Ya, I was going to go into how it fit well today but that's not really appropriate for this forum so I didn't.

Schwartz is elite defensively and McCann + Eberle are both above average defensively. Schwartz is a great playmaker, McCann is a borderline elite finisher , and Eberle drives play offensively at an elite level. Obviously Tatar-Danault-Gallagher was a better line, they were arguably a top 5 line in hockey over the last two seasons.

I just came up with a weird idea

If we (the members of the forums) were granted an NHL expansion team…

>Where would we put it?
>What would we name it?
>Who would we hire as a coach?
>Who would we draft with our first selection?

(Operating under the assumption that we start next season)

Saskatoon.
I don't know.
Mike Babcock (kidding) actually Bruce Boudreau.
Vladamir Tasasenko.

What exactly did he predict? Are you talking to us from a different reality?

(I’m sure there’s some minor things that are realities now but weren’t back then that I can’t think of off the top of my head, but not the major ideas of the book)

That’s McCanns 5th pt in 4 games - I think he’s going to breakout this year. Same with Vince Dunn. He’s going to have Shea Theodore type breakout.

^This. As Saskleaf alluded to, there's no way to explain how well Orwell predicted modern-day society without getting political, and that's not for this forum. If you'd like, you can email me at TheSicarioWarrior@gmail.com, would be happy to discuss it there.

Their offense is pretty lackluster.

I agree on the defense and goaltending, don't agree on the offense. Their bottom 6 is thin, and their top 6 seems mediocre. But if you are indeed right about that, then I agree that they'll wind up contending for a spot.

They lack finishers, but they have a enough forwards that drive play offensively at a high level (eberle, gourde, McCann) . They’ll generate a ton of quality scoring chances but they’ll struggle to finish , they’ll score enough to win a bunch of games though.

Reality will hit hard on a line with Eriksson and Ladd compared to Nylander and Tavares.

When everyone’s healthy , I assume the top 6 will look like this:
Schwartz-McCann-Eberle
Jarnkrok-Gourde-Donskoi

I think the top line is strong , the 2nd line is pretty good as well. Jarnkrok is very good defensive forward who can score goals at a solid rate, Gourde is a great 2C, and Donskoi doesn’t really drive play at all but he’s an above average finisher.

I think the bottom 6 is good enough. I’m assuming it will look like:

Johansen-Weinberg-Appleton
Tanev-sheahan-Geekie

I think Vancouver Calgary and Seattle battle for 3rd

Canucks have probably the best top 6
Kraken probably have best defense and goaltending

It’ll be tight. Unfortunately canucks fans have yet to see our two stars in action yet frown

I think you meant Tavares and Nylander as thats who he mostly played with when he was here. He and Nylander though surprisingly had good chemistry

Good for him though for getting a deal

I mean that division is pretty weak. Other than the Oilers and Knights its gonna be a free for all for the 3rd spot between the Flames, Canucks, and Kraken. Who knows we could see a major upset. As honestly with the defense and goaltending Oilers actually got a good chance of missing as trying to score your way out of trouble does not always work.
