Just for sake of discussion on the topic, not talking;

Is this a good move? (imo it’s not for the Sharks)
Etc etc etc

Just for sake of “what if” and both teams wants/ needs.

“Disappointment might not be the right word for it, but Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has made it clear that he expects to see a lot more from his top forward prospect, Alex Newhook.“

Quite from Colorado Hockey (this is not destroying Newhooks value but Colorado decides to go all in and make Newhook expendable from his camp/ preseason showing)(I do not think Newhook is a disappointing prospect lol)

        This is really interesting 👍

Did bednar say that recently? What a clown. Ugh.

Preseason is such a toxic thing ultimately

        This league is so dumb

He was superb in the playoffs last year no less

I just don't see Eichel as a landing spot for SJ. They already have enough expensive contracts, and while Eichel is worth his contract when healthy, the sharks wouldn't have money to build around him. Plus any fair Eichel trade starts with Eklund+SJS 2022 1st which DW won't do. Its better for both the sharks and Jack Eichel to look elsewhere for a trade.

Sabres screwed around too much, they're not getting top value for him anymore

        newhook is offlimits

also never use Hockeynow and Dater as qoutes, he is a troll click bait guy. The qoutes about newhook from Bednar are more than this

Eichel value has dropped but i do not disagree with your asking price here, i think Eklund, 2022 1st and Colorado's 2022 1st would be the start then add in guys lie Labanc and Ferraro do even the deal out.
I hope sharks do not do this though.

I know you’re just throwing this out there for the sake of getting a discussion going but I HATE it lol.

Just really don’t think Eichel here would be a good investment, a good fit, or a good use of assets.

Dater who is Colorado Hockey writes click bait articles. Even trying to make what Bednar said fit your narrative that Newhook has struggled the best you can get out of that is Newhook hasn’t stood out. Regardless of what Dater writes there is no way the Avs are trading Newhook. Right now going into the season there are like 9 guys that are untouchable Newhook is one of those. So easy no from COL.

It’s an interesting idea, but it doesn’t seem very realistic at least for the sharks. It’s believed that Buffalo made a significant bid to move up in the draft from Philadelphia’s first round pick to take Eklund. There is video of Kevyn Adams on the phone offering Philadelphia’s first round pick at 14 and Sam Reinhart to someone in an effort to move up. Most Sabres fans believe it was the sharks at number seven he was talking to, but they weren’t interested.

Bednar didn’t say that, I believe his exact quote was “he hasn’t stood out”, and considering some of the defensive pairings that have been rolled out (No Makar, No Toews, very little Girard and EJ) like McKewon & MacDermid, Gilbert and Gross, it’s amazing that any forward has looked good. Dater has burned his way down to basically writing for his own website, I mean dude spent the other day pontificating ad naseum about how he was deleting his Facebook account.

Its an interesting idea and personally think the trade is fair, but it wouldn't help SJ very much in the long run. Losing your only RHD prospect that has a chance at making the NHL isn't a great idea.

Yeah, Bednar's comments were more than he thought Newhook could do more, rather than that he had been bad. As it happens Newhook had a great game against Minnesota, scoring a late goal, and accordingly Bednar said that he was the teams best forward.

So. I have seen a lot of negative comments about the long term aspect of this deal. Think about this. Our core is set… Eichel, Eklund, Ferraro and Timo. And in this case(although I think to get the line over it will take moving another first.) you still have all your firsts to continue to build. With moving hertl you honestly saved spending all your farm system. I’m not saying the sharks should or should not do this. But top 10 players aren’t available everyday. And as long as you are smart about it (I.e trading hertl and flipping everything you get for it into this deal). There is potential for a deal to go through. I would love to take a run at this.
