The Wild aren't in a position to do that for one year of Horvat when they can't afford to re-sign him. And given he'll be 30 when Minnesota's dead cap situation ends, he doesn't really fit the timeline either.

He's got two years left, which means he's UFA at the same time the Parise and Suter buyouts kick in at their hardest. That's $15M of cap space MIN can't use, so they can't really afford signing him.
