GM Game Master Thread

OK. Here's a game that people can play if they want where people can pretend to be the GM of a team, and we can make trades and stuff as if it's the offseason (no vegas expansion trades until we get closer to the expansion draft, though you may talk about those trades). You may ask for a team, and i will give you that team if it isn't already taken. My favourite teams are the Rangers and Islanders tied, so i'll be the Islanders. Each person may only be the GM of one team.

2. I have indeed traded him a 6th round pick.
3. Yakupov is still on my team.

So far, I have traded him a 6th round pick for future considerations. What those future considerations are, is nobody's business. It's between Colorado and Vegas.
The only reason you see it, is because we want to keep notes on it somewhere, and there is no private way to do so on this site, and you keep invading the Vegas GM's office.
The only reason it shows as a "trade" is because that is the only way we have to keep notes on this site.
No "Expansion Trade" has occurred. Only a trade of draft picks, players or prospects. Vegas is still picking players from every team as part of expansion.

This is all perfectly legal and is actually happening in real life right now. The only reason you don't know about it, is because you don't get to stop in at the league or team's offices and yell at them every night.
Vegas, the teams they have dealt with so far, and the league itself, are all aware of this happening, and have official records on it. They will choose a time after the playoffs to start releasing this information to the public. Probably as part of their plans to build up anticipation for the Expansion Draft and drum up publicity.

Nod once if you understand.

I'm going to go with 2 assistant system for now I think, so if you want to be on board with Columbus, welcome to the team! Columbus GM chat already set up so feel free to post ideas. Preferably you're on multiple times a day, I've been pretty active in terms of trade making and fielding/ making offers. As assistant I'd like to have your input on all deals before I officially pull the trigger on them. Basically you get to be co-GM with me.

So you're saying he isn't making expansion picks but he's acquiring picks for the agreement to take a certain player? That's an expansion pick.

Its basically a pick that says, Hey, I want you to consider my appeal for not taking players A,B,C. So then Vegas chooses a player from D-T

It is an agreement to do something at a later date (pick or not pick certain players), but he isn't actually taking the players from their teams right now, so it's not a "pick".
The picks will still happen at the designated time.

Do you have an issue with him acquiring picks/players in exchange for those agreements?

I would like to formally request that I resign from my position as Sharks GM, if it entails me becoming the Leafs GM. I wanted them when it started, but someone got Toronto just before me. I'm sure an assistant on another team would be willing to fill the San Jose position.

Only thing I would complain about is the sheer fact that you turned the majority of the roster over. To relay someone's prior message, unless you have other circumstances regarding your withdrawal then sudden interest in another team, I would want you to stick with the Sharks

I have to agree. We can't have GMs jumping between teams just because they want a different one.

It's been a day or two since I last said anything but can we demote Nashville and Toronto??? Neither have commented anything in the past week and a half, anywhere on this site. The deadline for expansion is the 25th. Which is in 6 days. If teams like Nashville and Toronto want to mix up the roster before then, new GMs should be put in place so that they have some time to make deals

Just throwing this out there. (IMO)

if you are a currently a GM of a team, you shouldn't be able to petition for another teams vacancy. It really isn't fair. People who are currently in the wings waiting for a team should be first to choose.

OK town hall meeting for GM's and assistant GM's.

For the dates for the expansion draft, entry draft, UFA, etc, why are we not doing the these events simultaneously with the real thing or at least close to that time frame? So much can change during the playoffs and that could impact our perceptions of players still. Over exaggeration for example, I trade for Crosby and pay a ton of assets, then find out Crosby has a career ending concussion in the playoffs IRL...... Do we just continue on pretending Crosby is a dominant player or do I essentially have to live with the after effects of a trade that shouldn't off happened in the first place?

I mean for example look at how many trades have happened in just 19 days of this game happening. I personally think we need to slow down. There is a reason why the dates for these things are set at specific times. If we all blow our GM game' loads too early, this game is going to be boring for the following 5 months afterwards as nothing will happen and everyone's teams will be pretty much set in stone.

I'm just throwing this out there but I think in addition to rangersandislesfan (Just because i feel bad giving him the boot), as commish, I nominate ricochetti as co-commissioner to start putting the framework on how this game should go.

I'm going to start a new thread for it now.

General hockey rule question? Can a player with an NTC be sent to the Ahl? I know NMCs cannot but are NTCs treated differently?

NTC just means the can't TRADED. NMC means they can't be MOVED. As in moved to another team, moved to another league, etc etc.

IF someone will be the new GM of a team, it will be someone who is currently an assistant.

NTC just means the can't TRADED. NMC means they can't be MOVED. As in moved to another team, moved to another league, etc etc.


Yeah, i think NMCs just mean no expansion draft moving and no getting sent to the minors.
