Why is it so difficult to understand that nobody wants A 34yr old goalie with $10.5M cap hit, literally no one. You aren’t getting a top prospect. You aren’t getting a top player. You are going to have to pay someone to take his contract and you are still going to eat some.

Absolutely hideous trades for Colorado and the Islanders. In particular, Joe Sakic wouldn't trade Kuemper even up for Petry or Newhook even up for Price. In fact, per @coga16 and @Xqb15a, I doubt Sakic would trade Nichushkin for Price even up.

Honestly everything you said is fair but teams who feel they are close and could go for it this year and next year might be tempted by price. His Playoffs numbers are phenomenal and hes the main reason Habs went to the Finals last year with a bubble team. Put a decent team in front of him and remove the pressure from the MTL media and he might be what those teams are missing. If the Habs eat some salary too on top of that, they’ll be teams interested for sure. The PAP factor doesnt mean ****, look at Lehner with Vegas. Guy talks about his addictions and demons more than anyone else and its not bothering the team one bit.

Yeah but Price is 34 making $10.5M for another 5 years. Nobody wants to touch that contract, and Lehner literally makes less than 1/2 of that. Just go to the home page here and see who has any cap space. Even at 50% retained your talking about being on the hook for $5.25M for a guy until he is almost 40.
