Using the infamous Gretzky trade as a template, Ottawa declines.
Try again.
Remove the 2022 first and the value is fair I'd say
Of course, most people will say "not enough" but I don't think many have any idea what Sanderson + Norris + Pinto are worth but I guess they'll discover in a somewhat near future
People might also overlook 2022 1st round pick (OTT), which could be a Wright/Lambert/Savoie/Kemell/etc, aka another ELITE piece.
All that being said, an owner like Melnyk could want to overpay for McDavid's marketing value

If I’m EDM, my *starting* point for a trade is like, four 1st round picks. No protections. Plus, all your top prospects, as well as an NHL -ready Top-Line Forward. And that might not be enough for a guy that can and will single-handedly change the direction of your team for the next decade-plus.
Well, during McDavid's career, Ottawa has been competitive only the first 2 years but they still have won more playoffs rounds than the Oilers did with McDavid
And that return is ridiculous, at least from a team with the type of assets Ottawa has
Batherson + Sanderson + Pinto + Greig + 4 first round picks lol

If Ottawa declines this, everyone in their front office should be fired immediately
They should already be fired for 99 other reasons already, but they still shouldn't do this
Norris is 22 y/o. You're looking at a 30-40 goals scorer 2-way center
Sanderson is 19 y/o. You're basically looking at the next Jaccob Slavin
Pinto just turned 21 y/o, you're looking at a stud 2-way center
That 2022 first most likely will be top-5 in a GREAT draft.
Another first
