Dallas not willing to give Klingberg isn't a "can't afford it" problem. They're fine giving him just shy of $8M per year, which is what he's asking for. The issue comes with the term. Dallas doesn't want to give him 8 years. If Klingberg would have been willing to take a 6-year deal worth $8M per year, he'd be signed already. It's not a cost issue. It's a term issue.

And yes, they can afford Marner's contract. They have a ton of cap space this offseason.
