They aren’t going to get offers much better than this. I think sharks fans managed to trick this forum into forgetting what rentals go for. The max is a first, an okay prospect, and an okay young roster player. That’s as high as it gets. Hertl isn’t special.

Completely agree. What’s really funny about the perception around hertl is he hasn’t even been as good as the guy they just terminated contract on in Kane. Seems like a decent offer.

I don’t think they have tricked anyone. I think it’s a combination of this site has gotten ridiculous as far as what perceived value is, just happened to coincide with Hertl rumors, and Sharks fans are delusional in thinking he’s going to get 3 1sts type of value. A bit understandable after Goodrow got a 1st that their perception is skewed. Throw in the false narrative of Debrusk’s lack of value and you have a recipe for disaster.

You nailed it. A 1st, couple of B type young prospect/players is right around the actual value. The question is does someone get desperate and do something stupid.

Perception is that everyone is a homer, just like Jack Edwards

No Sharks fan has said 3 1sts. Sharks beat writers and even national writers have said the return is likely to be a 1st and a quality prospect that is no more than a year out or ready now. That is what Sharks fans have been saying on here. The only delusion I see on this site is Bruins fans thinking a vastly overpaid 4th liner and a late 1st is going to land them a top line center. You guys have serious issues if you really believe that.

I have seen it multiple times. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have seen multiple offers of 1st/prospect/player that were overpayments screamed at by SJ fans from multiple teams.

Any pick you get is going to be late. Nobody picking early are deadline buyers.

As far as Debrusk goes. Same age and production, higher ceiling, smaller contract than Labanc. Have not heard 1 Sharks fan call Labanc a 4th liner. Up until recently they expected a minimum of a 1st for him. With his dropoff they still expect a minimum of a 2nd for him. Yet Debrusk in their collective eyes is a 4th line cap dump. So tell me, who are the delusional ones? Lol.

As far as this offer goes it’s not a good one, when you factor in retention/SJ sending a pick back/no prospect involved it falls well short.

FAT no from San Jose. DeBrusk at best is a 3rd so it’s basically Hertl half retained for a 1st? Not close
