Whats his value

Created by: arafay
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2022
Published: Feb. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Vesalainen = about a late 2nd-3rd. Stanley = mid-high 2nd. So basically a couple of 2nds and a 3rd (at best) in terms of value.

I know the cap doesn’t work out. I just want to gauge is value
Trades
WPG
  1. Anderson, Josh ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I personally think he’s overpaid by at least 1-1.5M but he still has value, especially with retention. How’s this?

Vesalainen or chibrikov. I assume they’d want Vesalainen cause he’s nhl ready and has just as much upside (also isn’t a Centre)
MTL
  1. Stanley, Logan
  2. Vesalainen, Kristian
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (WPG)

Anderson isn’t very good. He is one of the most inconsistent players in the league. His contract is ugly, and will only get worse as he ages the way other players of his type do. He’s not really what the Jets need

Maybe Anderson value is not very high... but this return won't help Montreal for sure... BIG PASS

If you think Anderson is jut worth a 4.5m....I don't know if teams would want to give up assets. In a cap strapped league, teams can get probably better value than 4.5m via UFA.
The Leafs signed Kase last summer for 1.25m and you could say he has had better season than Anderson

Surprise surprise, random Leaf fan sees Habs and needs to come in here and trash players that know how to win the the playoffs. Come on man, you are better than this...

Win the playoffs, then miss the playoffs for years.....As I suggested....there are a lot better 3m players available in the NHL than 5.5m Anderson long term.
Since the 1993 Cup, Leafs and Habs have about same amount of playoff appearances and playoff series wins. Sorry bud its 2022, and the Habs too much long term bad cap to be good for awhile/

Jets should be using the money that was tied up in Copp and apply that to a max-term deal for Dubois in the offseason.

Big pass. Fast power foward is off the market.

I have nothing about other fans bases dreaming. But why do they need to talk **** about the player, like if saying he's not that good, overpaid, inconsistent, etc.. would bring is value down?!?!?!

We know what we got.

Also the Peg fans need to understand Montreal doesn't need wingers or LHD. If you dont offer a center or RHD, you start with 2 strikes.

Some of y’all need to chill out. I was just asking about his value and if he’s worth more than this, it’s not worth the cap headache to the jets.

Also, what they want changes depending on the have fan you ask on this site. Some say they need younger wingers and move guys like toffoli. Others say they need centres now. Some go googles for young, future top 4 ld like Stanley. Others say they don’t need em and need rd. At this point, what does someone looking from the outside think?

Also, I’m not “talking ****” about the player. Saying a player is overpaid is not “talking ***”, and in some cases (like this one) it’s factual. Anderson is not a 5.5M player as he is currently playing over the past couple of years. Wheeler is not worth 8m+ per year by the same logic. It’s not “talking ****”, it’s looking from an unbiased view based on literally every stat.

He's not worth a significant package in a trade.
He's also not worth trading for less than a significant package.
His market value is simply too far below his value as a player for a trade to make sense.

That doesn't mean he can't be in a trade. Only that a GM is going to have to over pay because they believe they can get more out of him than shown to date.

Think Dubois or Perfetti. Nobody is offering that kind of player for Anderson, so he's not going anywhere.

Umm I’m sorry but dubios and perfetti are both miles more valuable than anderson, even if he becomes worth his contract. But your points make sense otherwise.

I agree. Which is why I said it isn't happening. Sticking Out Tongue
I could see a Laine/Dubois type trade involving an extra piece for a lower value player with a trade request, but that's a rare situation.
