Wouldn't trade a top10 pick for him. Wild is going to be in a bit of a pickle with him as they have very hard time to re-sign the guy with their cap situation, so I think he could be acquired below market price.

A bit similar to Reinhart actually.

The question should be how low does the pick need to be for Ottawa to consider moving it

The “higher than 7th” =/= 8+ is a confusing one.

I think anything inside of lottery eligible ought to be considered.

In your opinion, how low do you think it should be?

Ofc they do. Who wouldn't want a premium return for a good top-6 asset lol

Well to me, i want one of Wright, Savoie, Cooley, Nemec, Jiricek , Lambert , Kemell or Slafkovksy. If all 8 are gone, id move it

He isn't worth that though

He should get a similar return to Buchnevich or Reinhart

Honestly, if you are picking a #8 and they are picking at #25, you could probably get their pick back too.

Fiala/1st for 1st.

That’s a big jump from 25 to 8. I wouldn’t see why not. If he remains unsigned, would look to me like a great deal for Minnesota.

Cause it's not worth it for the Wild when we can get an additional 1st+prospect if we just trade him elsewhere.

If Ottawa wants Fiala and their 1st is involved, maybe the Wild can add a lesser pick, but it won't be a 1st. Ottawa is still getting a 70+ point first line play driver for their troubles.

No team is trading a top-ten pick for one-year of any player. It would be 2nd and good prospect or player.

I didn't make the premise of the thread, so take that up with OP.

Teams trade 1sts for 2 months of mediocre players at the deadline, so I have no doubt that teams would trade a 1st for at least one year of Fiala, a player they could easily re-sign.

Contending teams do it with their late (and they hope later) picks. Developing teams don’t do it with top-10 picks.

Very different situations.

Again, I didn't make the thread, so I don't know what you want me to tell you. Rumors are that Ottawa is interested in Fiala, and that they're willing to give up their 1st for immediate help. That's what we know.

If I'm MN I'm doing everything I can to re-sign Fiala for a reasonable long term deal. There would be other moving parts to making that happen and MN's cap situation though. If a wrench gets thrown in then I'd consider something like that trade.

I see Fiala getting something in the ballpark of the Reinhart and Toffoli trades. This falls in that range.

That's bull****....

As a Wild fan, if that pick is higher than 7th ova they need to keep it and I wouldn't ask for it, but their 2023 1st instead.

I am perfectly happy if it's in the 7-12 range and getting a boom or bust prospect like Jarventie. Sens fans seem to be content with that, as am I.

You're glossing over the fact that an extension would likely be in effect if he's moved to the Sens or agreed to if at all.
