Lundqvist instead of hajek

There’s quite a discrepancy in value between those two lol… that being said I originally proposed the Rangers acquiring Lehkonen for Hajek and a 1st (long story short, it did not go well with Rangers fans) so any more value added to the trade probably means the Rangers would reject

Habs need to open a spot on the left side for Harris, so any LHD will only contribute to the logjam. Kravstov and a 2nd?

Idk. It’s honestly so hard to tell what Lundqvist’s actual value is, since he basically went from being too good to be included in the Eichel deal to the prospect every fan seems to want to trade.

He is going to be max 2nd pair defenseman. Kravtsov has weird value (probably around a 2nd) so a prospect between 1st round caliber, and 2nd round caliber + 2nd round value, for a proven nhl player who is one of the best defensive forwards in the game who has 20 goal potential. I think it's a fair trade tbh.

I could see that trade happening. I’ve heard rumors about Gorton wanting Hajek back too though, so maybe he would want him to split time with Harris (unless more d-men are going to be traded than previously reported)?

Never seen a single rumor from MTL wanting Hajek … we have a **** load of LHD so he is not needed at all. Niku got waive, we got Clague, Schueneman is better than these two, Kulak is still here for now, Edmundson will be back, we got Romanov, Harris to sign, Guhle Norlinder coming soon, Ouellet in Laval. Lehkonen vs Kravstov 1 for 1 is fair. We don’t want to take 2 contract spots for 1

The Lehkonen trade is fair enough value and Gorton should have a decent idea of Kravtsov and whether it's worth considering. If he were to make this trade, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
Neither player would be high priority for me though. I'd say it's a fair, but beatable offer. Something around Lundkvist is less beatable, as it actually addresses a need.

Lehkonen is more valuable than Kravtsov at this point imo, and I would argue Hajek isn't an asset of any value at all. He's awful.

I’m curious. In terms of draft pick value how do rangers fans value Lundkvist. His fit with Montreal just seems too perfect he’s my number one target for them this deadline.

So you opted to go with 2 things the Habs absolutely don't need, which are a RW and LHD?! Habs pass

As if! The last 2 positions we need to add at are RW and LD! Why the hell would we accept that?!

Lundkvist wasn’t bad for the Rangers when he was first called up this year, but he needs more time to develop. He spent most of the year playing alongside Nemeth, who’s been struggling with numerous issues this year, and won the SHL’s award for top defenseman just a year ago. He should still be worth a first round pick. Seeing the Rangers trade him for anything less would be as horrifying as seeing the Habs trade Caufield for the same return (to me, anyways).

Then why have the Canadiens been so interested in him since the beginning of the season?

This is a good trade that actually makes sense for both sides.

Libor Hajek actually played a lot more of right defence in the 2020-21 season than left defence. That being said, I think a 2nd instead of Hajek is more fair in value.

It still makes no sense for the Habs. Of our 7-10 LHD 4+ can play the right side. We need a top 4 RHD prospect or we are not moving Lehkonen. I don't know how many different ways you want me to say this.

They haven't, it's speculation. It makes 0 sense to add Kravtsov so that one of him, Gallagher or Anderson can play 3rd or 4 RW.

This is like my perfect trade deadline. Shore up on depth without giving up any huge pieces. This is PROBABLY not the Rangers’s year, so these are good moves to make a respectable run without throwing away the future.

Honestly the biggest hurdle/ “reason why this won’t actually happen” is Gallant. He sees guys like Hunt and Rooney and McKegg as his guys that he needs to protect and I can’t see him scratching them to play a bunch of new bottom six guys.

EDIT: Ha, I like how CapFriendly has upgraded Lafreniere from LW to LW/RW
