Whats the TDL Cost for These Players

Created by: UpsideDownQue
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2022
Published: Feb. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Im thinking at least a couple of them will be available for a mid round pick (some obviously would be worth more)

Braun, Kulak, and Pysyk seem like the best bang for your buck to me. All could probably be had for a 3rd including retention and maybe a 4th with no retention

Thats about what I was expecting. Im thinking him or Braun would be the best options here - Id maybe do a 3rd if theres retention, but COL may not need it depending on what other moves they make

Islanders should be putting a high, high, high price on Mayfield because he's under contract next year for $1.45M and has played on the top pair for a long stretch while Pulock was hurt, and kept up with Adam Pelech. I'm talking a 1st or a 2nd + a prospect. The Islanders have given every indication they want to contend again next year, and even if he's playing RD3/PK2 minutes next year, I still don't think you replicate his production with any UFA for the same cost (the Islanders would have to get a street free agent because they have nothing in the system that is close to ready.) So I know everyone thinks it's an overpay, but it's also a guy they don't need to move.

Conversely, you're overvaluing Andy Greene - I think a 5th/6th would be enough to get him. You have to factor in the thought that it's going to depend on if Andy *wants* to move - Lou has shown a lot of loyalty to this guy and I'm sure wouldn't just kick him out the door if he didn't want to go. But yeah, for all the complaining Islander fans have been doing about Chara, Greene has been just as bad - a healthy scratch the last 5 or so games, even!

If the Avs don’t want to give up another 1st rd pick, Mayfield would probably cost olausson and a 2nd

Braun is my preference and think it would take around a 3rd. Maybe a small kicker if they need retention. He's the only one I think really improves the team, with his main impact coming on the pk. If they go hard after Giroux, then including Braun would be a smart play.

I'm not against Kulak or Pysyk, buy they are pure depth (imo) and I wouldn't want to go higher than a 5th. The others either have too high a salary (DeHaan), cost too much (Mayfield), are too old (Greene), or have an extra year (Soucy). I guess with Soucy they could trade him again though...

I think there are 2 main options - getting a cheap guy with 1 year left, or getting a slightly more expensive guy with more term.

Out of the guys with 1 year left, I agree Braun is the best fit. The AAV and acquisition cost looks reasonable too

For the guys with 2 years left, It seems like NYI is asking too much for Mayfield imo. Id stay away from him, but Soucy is the better player anyway and I look at the 2nd year as a bonus instead of a "I guess we could trade him again" type of thing. If the cost is a 2nd Id be down for that, Id even add if SEA or another team was willing to retain a bit. Soucy has the best size, 5v5 defense, and PK defense out of all of the players here imo. Thats exactly what COL was missing

For next season with Soucy im thinking

Toews-Makar
Byram-Girard
Soucy-EJ

Then Barron can also be put in once the inevitable injuries pile up (could even rotate in a couple games when theres no injuries and use 11F-7D). Not sure if Helleson will be signed this summer but if so then he could be in the mix too

De Haan would be a 2nd or 3rd depending on the market for him

I can be on board with that. I'm not too into taking on additional cap for next season with so many holes on the roster, but he's very tradeable if it really came down to it. He'd be a nice addition.
