Vegas carried a lot of risk that Eichel would never play hockey again if the surgery didn’t work. Also factor in his salary hit and that limited the teams interested thereby limiting return. Scheifele is 4M cheaper for 3 playoff runs. A lot more teams can fit that kind of player in their cap structure meaning bids go up.
The proposal above really doesn’t address any of Pegs needs. Nils would be ok but we already have too many small offensive defenders.
I must admit, I don’t expect a huge return for FeFe, but the above proposal is woefully inadequate as it does not have a prime piece coming back like Laffy or Schneider.

Scheifele doesn’t cost $10 million. Scheifele didn’t just have controversial back surgery. Scheifele and Eichel are pretty darn close in point production with Eichel being better than Schief defensively.

True, but you can at least try to find out what the other team needs and see if you can match that. Just adding players that you want to get rid of from your team while ignoring the other team's needs, isn't usually realistic.

Especially when you try to use a completely different trade situation that has no similarities to your offer as a comparable.

I know you compared this to the Eichel deal but that’s basically comparing apples to oranges. Eichel was hurt, and wanted a controversial surgery. He also had publicly requested a deal and said he wouldn’t play for the Sabres again. That right there lowers his value a ton, not to mention there were 2-3 teams interested.

I mean look at what Arizona wants for Chychrun, he’s a LD, which is in less demand than a 1C in his prime at a reasonable cap hit with term left.

I totally agree with this take. There was not a guarantee that Eichel would come back and play like a top player in the league and Vegas was willing to take that chance.

If Scheifele is available at the deadline, teams will value him a lot because they get 3 playoff runs at a very team friendly price. It will have to be Schneider + 1st + something else. I could even see it being Schneider + Laf/Kakko + 1st.

If it’s this TDL I could for sure see Laf + Schneider and a 1st. 3 cup runs is a lot, especially when he’s a 1C who will put up over a PPG in NY. Not to mention his very team friendly deal. Also gallant plays a perfect system for Scheifele. I think two top prospects and a 1st is super fair for a prime 1C with term on a friendly deal.
