-Isles give up the most in the Montreal trade, so not sure why they would do it. Anderson is signed for 5 more years at $5.5M compared to Brock's 3@$6M; Anderson doesn't score as much as Brock does, and Anderson is a winger as opposed to a center, so less valuable in that regard. I just think you can do better if you have to trade Nelson (I also don't think there's any need to trade him as he's one of the only guys playing well this season and is worth keeping around.) I also think it's extremely optimistic to throw Raty in at 2C in his rookie season; while I think he'll get there, I don't think there's anything in Lou & Barry's history that points to them making that kind of move.

-This Seattle trade is even sillier to me, I understand the desire to offload Bailey, but pairing him with Varalmov (who's expiring next year) to take on 5 more years of Grub at $4M? Dunn is desirable, but both the guys you're sending Seattle are older and don't line up with what an expansion team should be doing when they're trading established veterans - stockpiling futures and prospects.

-Personally, I'd rather keep Bellows than get a 3rd rounder. He's been showing flashes this year and we can see what he's got in the home stretch of this last season. I'd rather give him the shot to be a young forward on an older team than get a 3rd rounder that we might not see play in the NHL for 2-3 seasons.

The habs easily say no.

Of the 4 players listed the habs are giving up the 2 youngest ones. Brock turns 31 in october he isnt a guy the habs can build around. Josh turns 28 he will be younger than brock is when his contract ends.

Mayfield also turns 30 in october and has topped out as a 4/5 guy in his career. Not something to build around long term. Lehkonen will be 27 still young enough to be viable in a few years.

Values aside it wouldn't remotely be the type of return the habs would be looking for should they trade those two.

C'mon dude... you do know Montreal is a rebuilding team right ? Regardless of value or not why would they trade a 27yo and a 26yo for a 30yo and a 29yo ??? Bruhhhhh

Josh Anderson is a few years younger than Nelson, but he has by far the worst contract in this trade.

Detroit should accept such an offer if it was made.
