Description

I have no idea if either of these get it done

For Miller, a new 3C at cost savings on the same term, a one-year delayed 1st (maybe with conditions attached for playoff performance/results to move add more picks?), a middle-six wing RFA, an RFA prospect that should slot in middle-6 as well, and a RHD rental to make the salary cap work seems in the realm of fair.

For Varly, a 2nd, an RFA goalie that can challenge for starts, and expiring defenseman seems fair-ish for a veteran goalie with a year and 20% retention.

That is nowhere near in the realm of fair for jt miller. He has a higher points per game than anyone on the caps right now with a good contract. How is that even close to fair?

He’s worth closer to 4 1sts than he is this offer. His value is at least a 1st, a top prospect, and another good piece

So youre trading a first a b level prospect a dman who is average at best on an expiring deal and a 3c who is declining for one of the best players in the league rn on a good contract?

Ha. Be careful, some of them cry rather easily.

He will get more than this package (Eller, Schultz, Sprong, Leason,1st) though. Sprong is worthless. Eller and Schults are worth a couple 2nds or so. Leason is an also-ran level prospect, not top-5 on the Caps, pushing even top-10. This ends up being basically 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd.

Considering his contract, Miller will get two 1st level pieces (1sts, top-2 prospect), plus a decent roster piece that they need/want (not one that the other team wants to move (UFA, cap move, etc)).

That would be the decent roster player that I mentioned. Not a "cap dump" type though. They have no need or reason to trade Miller other than to rebuild. Same with Garland. Adding Miller doesn't add $5.25M to your cap this year, so many teams have room for a TDL deal where even a $3M or $4M guy, that Vancouver actually wants, goes back.
