Description
Assuming teows and Johnson waive

How is this team? The offence is really good in my opinion. And hopefully helle doesn’t get overworked next year so he’ll be good. However, the defence concerns me. I’d be looking for a big top 4 rd around tdl.

Kings would rather keep Vilardi as a cheap wing RFA than take on Schmidt, if they fail on getting Chychrun, reupping Edler will be fine and a cheaper option than this.

I don't think you have to offer much for Johnson as there were plenty of conversations on having him waive for Seattle.

I wouldn't make the toews trade either. Chicago probably wants to see him retire there even if it makes a ton of sense to trade him to help with the rebuild. The other concern is that it costs to land him and he realistically doesn't get you a cup.

Winnipeg should not consider at all throwing away a 1st and Chibrikov on a Toews that is falling apart, even if they could retain 100%.

What's the logic in picking up Johnson? He's pretty low end and isn't going to be a difference maker.

He would make a very good 3c in my opinion. He’s also defensively reliable and brings a whole lot of playoff experience (reason for the 1st).

I feel like the Johnson and toews deals make 0 sense. Why are we moving a 1st and good prospect for a pending UFA who’s aged.

Sorry you don’t pay a 1st and solid prospect for a 3C.

I’ve found Johnson to be a very effective defender, and he’s big, would fit well next to heinola, at least until we can bring in someone better

You are giving that up for a 3rd center. . . You'd be better off not and either drafting a 3rd C or grabbing someone in the offseason

Fair, but you are also paying for the leadership. Having a voice that trumps scheifele and Wheeler in the room cannot be understated. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that buff leaving coincided with this team falling apart

The jets also see Lowry as the 3rd Center for the foreseeable future (I’m not saying I agree I’m saying this is what the jets think) I highly doubt they trade for a Center unless they move scheifele this offseason. Agree on Schmidt there’s no room for him on this team which helps samberg get in on the right side. Wheeler to 3rd line and off pp1 please.

You really think that they’d let toews trump them? We’ve brought in cup winners before that have had no say. I think buff was the real leader of the team. They need to make wholesale leadership and coaching changes. That doesn’t mean they just strip wheels and scheif of their letters but move on from them.

Way too much injury risk and 5.25 plus giving up a 1st and top prospect for a 3C. It's just too large a cap hit and too much future to give up for someone you want as a 3C.

An aging bottom pairing defenseman isn't a difference maker. I wouldn't want someone that would tempt the Jets coaches to overplay a la Beaulieu.

Pretty certain all of the Canadian teams are on EJ’s no trade along with BUF and AZ. That being said it would take a WHOLE lot more for COL to eat $3M in cap space in a cup window.

There is a massive difference in asking a guy who just missed a year to waive for the XD where there was almost no chance Seattle was going to select him and actively shipping him, especially to a borderline playoff team

Chibrikov is enough for Toews; adding a 1st for Toews is a massive overpay. If Schmidt gets traded it would be to bring up Heinola and Samberg, not to add Johnson

Call me biased but I'd like to see a Canadian team lift the cup. I think Winnipeg just missed their shot and needs to retool. Toews isn't that in my mind. Plus you have to deal with his uncertain health issues.

Johnson I have mixed feelings about seeing as I'm a blues fan. Having the 1OA and probably only one for us in the next 50 years turning out to a let down hurts. He's no where near Yakupov territory but considering the blues could have had Toews and Coture hurts.

Hawks definitely accept that, not sure why Winnipeg would ever offer it, tho.

Johnson never waives to go to a fringe playoff team. But nice to assume I didn’t read the description. If your omniscient like that just bet on every game and play the stock market.
