1. Hughes
2. Zegras
3. Pettersson
4. Hischier
5. Thomas
Followed by: Suzuki, Norris, Necas, Lundell and Newhook

Quoting: Devil
Hughes
Zegras
EP
Hischier
Suzuki
HM: Thomas

Having Zegras over Pettersson makes no sense. Sure Zegras is having a great year but Pettersson was even better on his rookie year and won the Calder. Hughes has also only just broken out so I’d see Hughes and Pettersson at the same level

Jack
Zegras
Suzuki
Thomas
Norris

Lundell and Elias are just missing

How is Pettersson missing here. He’s proven more than everyone on this list and won the Calder. He’s had a rough season but he’s been much better than everyone here except maybe Hughes. Hughes may have a higher ceiling but you cannot convince me that Thomas Suzuki Norris, and Zegras are higher than Petterssons. Hughes? Yeah sure but no way on the others

I had Pettersson at 3 right after Hughes and Zegras but yeah, he should definitely be in the conversation for the higher position

I still don’t see why Zegras would be higher than Petterssons when he hasn’t proven much. He’s all flash but really ain’t good in other aspects. Pettersson is elite defensively and will probably be in Selke conversations in the future. Zegras’ rookie season isn’t even as good as Pettersson’s rookie season when he won the calder

EP is also the only one of these 10 I listed who has regressed from what he was in the past. I think it's only a matter of time before Zegras go past him - heck, he might've already done that. He's got me thoroughly impressed.

Does not account for this season where Hughes has produced better than Pettersson but it shows how elite Pettersson has been before the slump at the beginning of the season

Edit: Pettersson played card image did not work 😢

My list was based on potential and current play (
Hughes is 3 years younger than EP and is already better and has more potential. He’s easily over Pettersson right now. You’re crazy if you take EP over Hughes
Same with Zegras. He’s better offensively than EP but EP is better defensively. I still rather take Zegras potential over Pettersson

He regressed for about 30 games but has bounced back. He was on pace for like 15 goals and 35 points a third of the way through the season. Zegras again is great but he’s more flashy than actually effective. I don’t really see his defensive metrics as elite as Petterssons

Zegras is flashy but his point production isn’t even that good. I’d have to take Hughes right now simply due to Petterssons slump at the beginning of the year but both will be elite. Zegras will always be a step behind Hughes and Pettersson overall

Would like to see EP's profile from this year. It's bound to be very different than in the past.

Checking his stats from Natural stat trick the guy is no better than Roope Hintz.

Question is does that make EP worse than people think or Hintz better than people think.

It’s fine if you want to put Hughes over Pettersson because of his age and this season, but I would take Pettersson over Zegras and it isn’t close . People forget Peterson was a top 6-8 center for most of his ELC

This is Petterssons worst season in his career. If you didn’t know, he had an injured wrist for like the first 40~ games of the year. It’s really hard to pass the puck and shoot when your wrist is messed up
