Offersheet candidates

Created by: NHLfan10506
Team: 2021-22 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 11, 2022
Published: Apr. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not saying there will be successful offersheets (completed, signed and left unmatched). But if there were, these would be the most likely candidates.

Who would be your top-3? (In terms of likelihood of OS)

I am guessing:

1. Fiala
2. Sandin
3. Kakko

CBJ and Laine are reportedly working in the $8M-$8.5M range on an extension for 5-6 years.

There aren't a lot of team who have the assets to OS him at a higher price.. Of the ones that do, a lot of them are in the rebuild-still young phase, so we're talking mid-to-high 1st(s) range.

Which is to say, if like, the Devils or the Predators wants to OS for like $9M, go ahead.

1)Hague (steal him Anaheim, you cowards!)
2)Roy (Let's go 2 for 2 little ball of hate!)
3)Kakko-reminds me a lot of the KK offer sheet...hasn't shown enough to be offered $6+ mil, but at the cost of a mid-late 1st rounder, why not?

Off the board pick: Necas (Would be pretty GD hilarious to see the Habs and Canes continue their back and forth)

Don't think any of them are overly likely, but I absolutely feel like taking advantage of the offer-sheet system is something that teams should be doing. Anaheim adding a guy like Nick Hague @ around $4 mil for the cost of a 2nd (let's say at worst it's 40thish OA in '23), is, IMO a no brainer.

I'm personally extremely excited to see the 1st ever "4 x 1st round pick" OS some day. That's going to be a wild day. It certainly ain't gonna be with this round of RFA's, but I'm positive it'll happen some day.

He hasn’t shown enough to get $2M, let alone $6M. That’s the problem. No ones going to want the player enough to offer sheet him.

I'm not completely sold on Liljegren, but he absolutely has the potential to be a great add for you guys, and to fill that RD hole (plus, that way you guys could leave either Nemec or Jiricek for the Ducks in the draft tears of joy)

More teams should be, particularly because it can be beneficial for players. For all the drama around it, don't forget Aho *chose* to sign an OS from MTL because CAR wasn't giving him an offer he liked.

But it also creates a lot of bad blood between management and is seen as pretty untoward. Ex: CAR turning KK into a skating troll post.

I don’t think Devils would be on Laine. Can’t speak for Preds.

Man, the type of player who would become available such that a team would say "**** the 1st Round" for four straight years...

Yeah, they were just examples based on who had the assets to even offer in the first place.

I think Roy could be non-tender candidate
But Hague is certainly good option.

Leafs have may be looking at NTC hell. They don’t have many moveable pieces left to make room if someone tries to snag Sandin or Liljegren.

The KK OS was about 95% spite and hatred.

And 5% "yeah, sure, he can play."

100%. I feel like the true contenders are starting to say that though. If I had the space a few years ago, and saw someone like Marner holding out, I absolutely would have put some deep thought into doing something wild like this.
