Finding Center and Other Pieces to take next step

Created by: PuttinOnTheFoil
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 21, 2022
Published: Apr. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NJ needs to become more abrasive so adds Tyler Bertuzzi (no Canadian teams in Division, so minimal games missed due to his vaccination status) and also must replace the departing P.K. Subban. Detroit needs to secure a #2 Center and add to Left Defense, while also working to replace Bertuzzi's points total. Filip Zadina looks to blossom with a change of scenery and Detroit adds a 2nd Rd pick to enhance the package from NJ. Both teams benefit by addressing key areas of concern, while almost an even $$ swap.

I don't want to be rude, but the Devils would't even remotely consider this. They don't even consider this for Nico alone (22, captain) before throwing in a top 9 winger who has great chemistry with Hughes and and two decent prospects.

The valuation is so off I'm not sure this is a troll but I'm trying to be respectful.

I appreciate the civility of your feedback by the way. Just throwing out ideas for ways to add a 1A/2 center here. I do think NJ would be interested in a player like Bertuzzi (I would hate to see him moved), but I think he irritated the management with his unwillingness to get vaccinated and his value is currently high. Also would help that there are no Canadian teams in Metropolitan Division. I agree probably too light for what I proposed, but with Hughes a clear #1 Center and NJ has other young C options, my thoughts on how to acquire Hischier.

So my question: is Hischier totally untouchable or would it just take a much better package?

Probably untouchable.

But if not Much better package + they probably don't send others with him to maximize his value.

He's 22, the captain, and clicked along at a 71 point pace despite an incredibly slow start where he was shooting less than half his career low for like 20 games. so you're looking at something you absolutely aren't willing to give up. Multiple premium assets like Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, Cossa, your first, etc.

The Devils would need to clearly win in order to move him.

Not to mention Devils are probably going to move Blackwood because of the friction that his whole vaccination fiasco caused between Fitz and Blackwood so there's no way Fitz would go out of his way in trading his leader for the only unvaccinated player remaining in the NHL.

And a whole lot of biased Devils fans. Hisher has significant value and would definitely be of interest to Detroit but none of the other pieces give us anything we don't already have. Yes those guys have value but not what Detroit needs. If Detroit trades Bert, let alone Hronek it will be for a young 1/2 center. Young top pairing left D. Bertuzzi has a lot of value, there are not many players that can do it all with an edge like he can, the Tkchucks a few other players. Mason McTavish will be one. The trade doesn't make sense for Detroit. You want to trade Bert and Zadina for Hisher, let's do it. ( I'm sure the will be some other components involved).

You think Hisher is worth Raymond, Seider, edvinsson, Cossa and a first. Is that a joke? Who's biased here? I didn't realize Hisher was better than Matthews and McDavid.

again, he's 22, the first ever 1OA pick in franchise history, having a career best season despite a slow start, and the captain. This isn't even close. Couple that with the vaccine garbage and this is a laughable offer.

Don't get me wrong. Hisher is an excellent player. He's similar to Larkin in Detroit.

Anyone going to mention that Bertuzzi is a UFA and could walk after that deal, meanwhile Hischier has many years left?

This is madness for both teams.

Detroit needs a good centre, there's Copp/Strome and Trocheck in FA that doesn't cost anything at all to acquire. There is zero need to trade either Bert or Hronek to get a centre this Summer. We'd lose 130 points by trading Bert+Filip, no centre is going to score 130 points. Trust our amateur scouts and Yzerman's drafting to get the next Larkin.

I'm sure Devils' fans can think of similar arguments for declining their end of this deal.

Also the line "must replace the departing P.K. Subban" ...this could be done with a can of beans. He's the 3rd RHD on the team behind Hamilton and Severson. Subban stinks on the PP, and overall adds very little to the team. Very replaceable. Hronek is a very nice RHD, but there is absolutely no world where trading Hischier for Bertuzzi makes sense for the Devils. Hischier is a gutsy guy, he doesn't play on the perimeter.

I don't understand your argument when Hischier and Sharangovich have more points than Bertuzzi and Zadina...While Hischier is a natural center and Sharangovich came up as one.
