2-3 year bridge maybe but neither are signing that for 5 years.

I think Seattle would do that for a third but not a second.
I doubt Sandin and Lilegren sign 5 year deals at the AAV. Thats more an AAV for 2 year deals.

I think Sandin and Liljegren would want shorter deals to maximize their next contracts.

Yeah, but why would either player sign that? Whitecloud is never gonna be better than Petro or Theo so he's destined to be a 2nd pair complementary player at best, so he took the money. Sandin looks like he could have top pair upside, and Liljegren realistically will only be challenged by Niemela for top pair RD in a couple years due to how thin the Leafs are on the right side, and that's assuming things continue to go right for Niemela, who has yet to play a pro game in NA (basically the second Brodie starts to fade, Liljegren is top pair by default, which would likely inflate his value).

State tax played a factor for whitecloud also the fact of draft status. Lily and sandin both first rounders and whitecloud was undrafted. Theyd be nuts to sign these

One year of a good backup goalie is worth more to us than one year of a bottom-pairing defenseman. It might be different if their respective terms were different.

Yeah if they sign that its gonna be a 3 year deal and not 5

My prediction rn is

Sandin gets 1.85mill x 2 year bridge along with Liligren

Lines them up to when Muzzin and Brodie's deals are done and when they can get a longer better deal in the 4-5mill range.

More than likely it WOULD be something similar to what Jake Bean signed for 3 x 3,333,333 but in my fantasy world it’s 5.

Also just wanted to show it’s possible to lock both up for multiple years.

I think both bridge for 2/3 years at around $2M AAV, but not 5 years. I think you're probably looking at a $4Mish AAV if you want that type of term.

Why would Seattle be taking that? I can't see them prioritizing spending assets to get a pending UFA in Kerfoot and a player with Kase's injury history.

Same with Anaheim - I can't see them giving up someone who's developed into a solid backup (plus a mid-round pick?) for a pending UFA RD3.

No disrespect, but I think some of you in these comments need to stop acting like real capologists..because you're not.

The Athletic, more specifically, James Mirtle, w/o arbitration eligible for less than 100gp, gave Sandin & Liljegren 1.4 million each per year on a short bridge, based off recent comparables. Not that he is going to be dead on, but holy, some of you are really out to lunch on the cap and players.

Soooo, yeah, I'm going to go ahead and trust he's way more accurate than any of these numbers being thrown out in the comments here lol
