Columbus declines easily. The ask on Texier is a 1st plus, if Columbus moves Texier it’ll be to open roster spots for other forwards, not to take on a cap dump in Armia.

The habs would have no interest in the Minny deal. Harris is going to be getting decent minutes next season, Poehling isnt what we hoped he would be at this point but he's a serviceable bottom 6 forward at the moment.

Id debate Petry and a 3rd. I still think a Martinez or Schmidt at the right price fit the role better. I think Detroit likely moves on 2 defenseman this offseason with Petterson being the other candidate. I think one of the two you see a name for here already and the other likely is Staal coming back one a 1 year deal. just becomes where is the most value for Detroit of the 4 possible trade options. I dont know that Petry brings the best leadership out of the 4, but a 3rd could help the swing.

Minnesota declines. They aren't trading a big, good 1st pairing d with spurgeon for a restricted bottom line player they don't need. It also won't be Minnesota adding even though Minnesota would have zero interest in poehling and prospect who won't sign with Montreal

Finally, a Petry to Detroit trade that the Wings may actually consider.

Nope.

He makes 6.25 for the next 3 years. Although I give this person credit for making it at least somewhat realistic, I'm not touching that horrendous contract, even with the 3rd round draft pick as a sweetener.

Yes he does...he makes $6.25 million. We live in a salary cap world....

I could MAYBE see a contending team take him on at that Cap hit, but Detroit is sure as hell not going anywhere near that atrocious contract. Just because we have tons of Cap space doesn't mean we need to spend it on mediocre players making way too much money.

No he wouldn't.

And you don't get it do you? We are not ready to compete for a Cup, why should we add a 35 year old washed up D that makes way over market value? If Petry was making 3.5 mil, then sure, whatever, but he's getting paid like he's an All-Star, yet he's a mediocre D at best.

21 points in your last 30 games as a defenseman is "washed up" apparently

If he's so good why does he come up in so many trades here everyday from Habs fans? You seem to think he's still amazing, so why not just keep him around?

Also, way to just discredit his first 36 games of the season where he looked lost on the ice and put up a measly 7 points in those 36 games despite playing a good amount of minutes.

I’m not saying I’d take it. Just that it’s nice to see a Petry trade that doesn’t involve Detroit paying for him.

1. Because he requested a trade idiot

2. Ducharme stats don't count. Look at what that hockey terrorist did to Caufield. No wonder the whole team played like garbage when their head coach was an incompetent moron who only had a contract because of Carey Price.

Hahahahah..the classic "those stats don't count" . If we discredit all the games that Givani Smith didn't get a point in this season, than Givani Smith got a point in every game he played!!!!

Idiot....

Your arguments are humorous. So you don’t Want to discredit a 36 game sample size, but DO want to discredit practically the entirety of his habs career, especially the last 4 seasons prior to his mini-slump under ducharme? Seems like sound logic 🤦🏻‍♂️

Petry is getting older, I think he's done. I'm not sure why people have such a hard time understanding this, Sure Petry had some good years, but those are in the past in my opinion...

Also stop trying to put words in my mouth, my argument is pretty simple, I don't want Jeff Petry in Detroit.

I don't know why some people (like you) have a hard time comprehending this. I don't think he is that good, and based on his age and his contract, I don't want him in Detroit. Why are you confused....?
