Columbus isn’t giving up that much for Miller, who likely wouldn’t want to stay in Columbus.

Miller grew up not far from Columbus, so I'd say you never know

It sort of feels like beating a dead horse at this point given I see it proposed 20 times a day, but I don't see Philly even considering moving 5OA for Miller, even if there were an extension

i just expect that they want to make a push, doesn't seem like a team looking to rebuild with patience...

But then again, Torts didn't handle Miller well in NYR, so there's a good chance Miller has some resentment there.

Only time will tell, but i'm just making mock offers of teams I've seen ever the faintest of rumors from

really? I expect that if they were to move him, clearly they are not going for it in 2022-2023 season. If that is the case, why not retain if it means maximizing the return?

That consideration holds pretty much the same weight for Detroit and Buffalo and even more for Pittsburgh where he actually grew up.

Easy PASS from the Rangers, no thanks to a 1 year Miller rental.

So the narrative he's a columbus area native/wants to be in Columbus was never true, Columbus just has room for him, and would be bad to go after him

Having room to go after him doesn't equate to it being a bad decision to go after him

i know it's just bad cause if he gets a giant extension just the addition of him doesn't make columbus win much more at all. They had no issue scoring last year, in fact towards the end of the year they had the most goals out of any metro team, but also the most given up. It was a large defensive problem. Taking a huge chunk of cap for him in not as much are of need while also having to sign Laine here soon, as well as 2-way but offensive leaning D Werenski making 9.5. Miller extension wouldn't kick in till he's 30, Columbus probably won't be a serious contender until he's approaching mid 30s, and depending on the length of years and still needing room for defense, paying yet another guy 8-9 mill while still having a major problem won't help what made them lose so many games last year. As well as needing room for expiring RFAs after 2025 of Sillinger, Johnson; it will only be in Miller's 2nd year of his probable 6-8 year deal.

TLDR Miller should go to a team more complete and not as young as Columbus, as well as he is not their biggest need. Would he help? Yeah, but their defense would still be bare, but now with 8-9 mill gone

i know it's just bad cause if he gets a giant extension just the addition of him doesn't make columbus win much more at all.

You do realize that Miller is only worth what the market is willing to pay him, so if you're discouraging other teams from giving Miller too much money and/or term then...

I don't think most teams would offer these deals, but I'll do better than choosing one, I'll rank em.

            1. Pittsburgh
            2. Columbus
            3. Washington
            4. New York
            5. New Jersey

Don’t have any interest in trading that for a rental.

The Rangers aren’t that close to winning the cup. Realistically I’d say 2 years out provided the young guys continue to improve and take strides. No single individual is going to put them over the top, it’s going to take a collective combined effort to improve. Plus not having to rely on Igor 95% of the time.

that seems like a fair point haha. I guess I agree.

What do you expect laf to become at this point? I was so high on him when he was drafted and expected a lot more, and I still think he has soooo much more to give

Best to worst from the Canucks perspective (IMO).

Based on the playoffs definitely top 6, not sure about the ceiling though. He has some jam and grit to his game that is great to see so I’m looking forward to see how he progresses. I think he’ll break 50-55 points next year though in an expanded role.

i hope he does. I really like his style of play, and I think he has that clutch gene when he's full opportunity
