What makes MIN's prospect pool so good? I thought it would be Detroit.

Connor Bedard is in pace to end the regular season in WHL with somewhere between 70-80 goals and 150-160 points.

For the sake of comparison, here's the last five WHL top point scorers (excluding the covid year of 2021)

2021-22: Arshdeep Bains, 55 games, 43G, 69A, 112 points
2019-20: Adam Beckman, 53 games, 48G, 59A, 103 points
2018-19: Joachim Blichfeld, 57 games, 53G, 62A, 115 points
2017-18: Jayden Halbgewachs, 62 games, 70G, 59A, 129 points
2016-17: Sam Steel, 56 games, 50G, 82A, 132 points

Steel and Beckman were 19 during these years respectively, the rest were overagers (turning 20+ over the course of the season).

Connor Bedard is 17 with 38 games played, 45 goals scored and 46 assists thus far. There's enough games left in the year to almost double both of these numbers, which is absolutely insane.

He plays a physical emotional kind of game. The guy you'd want on your team come playoffs. He's very undisciplined though, would be nice if he cleaned it up.

His pre-draft comparison was Brad Marchand. Checks out.

I remember during his draft year, reports said he was talented but had a short temper, i'm pretty sure he's been suspended a couple times in the Q during his tenure there, i guesss he hasn't quite been able to control it yet

Apparently this is L’Heureux’s ninth suspension in his four-year QMJHL career and his second this year, that really doesn't bode well for him, that simply wouldn't cut it at the NHL/AHL level

When do you even stop counting Byfield as a prospect? He's lost his calder eligibility in 2021-22 and played 25 more games this year.

He's 20 YO and still isn't a full time NHL player. Scott's criteria is listed at the start of the article

Figured this mightve came off as rude because not everyone is subbed to the Atletic. These are the criterias:

To be eligible for inclusion, a skater must:

Be under 23 years old. We know that by the time a player turns 23, he is largely done with the steep upward progression we see in prospects and will begin to plateau.
Not be a full-time NHL player. This is the arbitrary section of the criteria. Here, I trust my judgment for whether or not a rostered NHL player is still likely to bounce between levels more than I trust any pre-determined games played before the cutoff. Preference for inclusion as an NHL prospect is more likely to be given to teenagers than 22-year-olds.
Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Players who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered.

No, don't worry, I just read it. It's just the subjective part of the "full-time NHLer" criteria that I dislike.

Yep. I'm assuming Barron is a part of his "Full-time NHLer". No way should he not even be an HM.

Valtteri Pulli, 21 years old, Finnish defenseman, 6’6” and never drafted. Reportedly SJS, WPG, BOS, VAN, NSH, PIT, and NYI have all shown some interest.

He is 6'6" defenseman has scored 3 goals and 14 points in 47 games. Not game breaking numbers, it's his size, skating, defensive zone play, for a player his size has been impressive.

Yup, Marek lists SJS, WPG, BOS, VAN, NSH, PIT, and NYI as teams who have shown interest. Could be more 🤷‍♂️
