Why would strome sign for less then he makes now and $1M under his qualifying offer and $2M less then what he would get in arbitration? Even hometown discounts aren't that big

Of course he would sign for less than his qualifying offer if he doesn’t get a qualifying offer. Otherwise why would he not get a qualifying offer. If anything that’s too much for Strome.

That's completely untrue. He's not getting a QO because he has arbitration rights and it is likely he would get $4.5M to $5M in arbitration as widely reported by the analysts that cover the Hawks. Once he goes to UFA status, arbitration gets removed. Someone will pay him more then $3M for 3 years. MAYBE he takes $3M for 1 year on a prove it deal. Just because you Leaf fans want to fit him under the cap, doesn't mean players say yes...nor should he.

Holl makes some sense for the Oilers, if they have moved Tyson Barrie after addressing the need for a 2LD before acquiring him. Kerfoot doesn't make sense for them because an arbitrator is likely to award Puljujarvi something in the order of $3.5M - $4M. Edmonton would be better off overpaying JP instead of overpaying Kerfoot.

    So, let's start with:

Why are Oilers trading young player when they could use the cap of Kerfoot and Holl and sign him and still have cap left over?

LA with this season offseason have no room cap wise for Muzzin. Also why would they want him back. Please check before you post trades. And, no they are not taking him back to help Leaf's cap and hurt their own. Contrary to many posters on CF teams are not taking other cap issues just to help another team.

Sa din's team says he wants a bigger deal, why is he taking way less?

Always love the home town discount. Did Tavares, Matthews or Marner give Toronto a home town discount? Why would Strome?

Leafs don't want a guy who plays like he's in a non-contact league. 11 hits last season, probably wouldn't go in the corner with your grandma because she's to physical.

If he wants that or more than I don’t want him on the leafs. There are better UFA options out there. And frankly I’m not sure who is giving him 4-5 mil.

Meh at the right price I’d be happy to get him in a bottom 6 role, but nothing more. Agreed I’d rather go after more of a power forward mild if possible but I wouldn’t go out of the way to make it happen.

On a longer term he will get $4m to $5m, but likely he gets a 1 or 2 year deal around $3.5m.

You've got him all wrong anyway, unless he's a top 6 center, or a 3C on a scoring line, he is useless anyway. He's definitely not a winger, and he's pure offense...while great hands, vision, and elite passing, he simply doesn't bring much more to the table. So unless you move JT to the wing and put him at center...which is probably a bad move....then he should not be on the Leafs. The only focus for the Leafs right now should be signing Campbell, Keumper, or trading for goalie...without a good goalie you guys are toast

I agree. Don't see him as a fit on the leafs. As you said, resigning Campbell or signing Kuemper is 1000% the priority. Not interested in going into next season with a Woll-Kallgren tandem lol.
