Jets decline. I’d imagine schiefele to cgy starts with lindholm or andersson. The jets aren’t rebuilding.

Both of those players currently have more value than Scheifele though?

Nope.

Wrong - Armstrong says yes before he even blinks

(That being said - Tarasenko is not waiving to go to Calgary)

It makes little sense moving Kyrou for Tkachuk. Blues need youth and speed, losing Kyrou (who is nearly a p/g player) who's also one of the fastest in the league deprives them of this. They'd move a prospect and a different forward before Kyrou.

Exactly, him and Thomas arent being moved and quite frankly it's getting ridiculous that people think one them is the starting point for Tkachuk rn given the circumstances.

It makes all the sense in the world to include Kyrou because that is who Calgary is going to ask for and he’s going to cost $7-8m per year himself after next season. We’ll see how it plays out but I would trade Kyrou for him and think DA would to

What we should do is move on from Barbashev and aging vet.

I’m not disagreeing with you there. Still be really hard to fit ROR and the others next year in this scenario but maybe you are ok with moving on from him. The Blues still need to offer something Calgary would accept in trade. I’m not one of those that think we would get MT in free agency because think he’ll get $11m per that route

You’re entitled to your opinion but there’s a reason Kyrou hasn’t been extended yet and Thomas has in my opinion. MT > Kyrou however you want to slice it. If that’s what it takes, I’d do it

Just saying the fact that there are two sides that think opposite things, is usually a sign its a reasonable deal. so the fact two sides are so vehemently opposed, means there has to be some fairness. Most people think negotiations are trying to find a deal both are somehow magically 100% happy with. Bias will always interfere with that feeling ever existing. Most good deals leave both feeling a little uncomfortable with what they gave up. With your point about Kyrou going to be in same situation, it isn't the money they are trying to save, they just want someone that wants to be in CGY, and the reality is perhaps bringing in a Canadian, with a year to get him comfortable in his surroundings is probably a positive step. Less proven so he he is more attainable than Blues fans would like him to be. (keep in mind younger and less proven are the same just different semantics used for which side of the argument that you are on).

Personally I think we move on from ROR too. Only way yo keep ROR is too trade Schenn but I don't see that happening. Now if we did a Schenn+Bolduc+1st and lesser player (Borts/Mikkola?) for MT, I'd be all for it. This gives Calgary a top 6 gritty forward, a good prospect and a 1st plus clears out space for Tkachuk.

I think we move on from ROR, too. It's tough to see how the finances fit (unless ROR takes a comically big discount), and recent history with Backes/Petro/Perron suggests Army will be unsentimental.

Call me a moron - but I think Bolduc is going to be better than Kyrou. Can't see Schenn waiving to go there - can dream though.

would you do?:

Unfortunately that offer doesn't get both Tkachuk and Hanifin and may not even get Tkachuk by himself. As a Blues fan I probably wouldn't hesitate too quickly.

Agreed and he rightfully should with ROR (should have kept Perron over Leddy). But in order to maintain pace with the Central and West, the Blues need speed and skill and ROR is slow of foot. He would have to be willing to take 5 or less which he'll probably ask for 3 x7mil like Pavelski.

I'll agree to an extent but if you don't think that gets you Tkachuk - there is no way your package of Schenn+Bolduc+1st and lesser player (Borts/Mikkola does...

Edmonton declines. They have no use at all for Vladar. They'd just lose him to waivers anyhow.

It's less about the value going to Calgary than it is the pieces. They already have Andersson and Tanev on the right sjde. In terms of defensive shutdown defensemen, they already have that so I don't see a fit for Parayko.
