I think St-Louis should do it and CGY should accept
Tkachuk is the better player even if I really like Kyrou

I think the issue with that is Calgary shut down ALL Tkachuk talk for awhile why the tried to sign Gaudreau. Perhaps this comes back on the table

Not to mention, Krug has a full NTC and I doubt a Canadian team was on his radar.

A writer for the Blues speculates about what it would take to acquire one of the best RFA’s out there. James Mirtle reports things about stuff too.

(sigh)

Not only was this off-hand mention not any sort of actual report, but JR is not exactly the scoopmeister around town. His "inside info" ain't great, and it's been even further off this offseason.

I can’t see Calgary wanting Krug anyways and he won’t waive

Just because something didn’t happen doesn’t mean it wasn’t talked about or the info isn’t true. JR talks out his butt far less than most reporters.

Low key I like this for Calgary assuming Tkachuk talks are dead in the water. If re-signing tkachuk is still possible then this trade is an easy pass

@sensonfire, ty for putting the entire quote, from what I saw on twitter I thought that was an actual offer.

The Blues don't have to move Krug in that trade, perhaps CGY feels like they are set tgere anyways. Moving Krug would be useful so that they can extend guys next year. If Buchnevich doesn't have CGY on his list or willing to waive there, having a package with him and futures for Tkachuk and then moving Tarasenko would allow them to be compliant for this year. They would have to make a decision between O'Reilly and Kyrou but better to do that next year and have a stronger team this one. Perhaps they can find an opportunity to move Krug during the season for the extension dollars.

He gets a lot of this type of stuff wrong, but really it was more of an example of the tons of things he hears this time of year than an actual bit of scoop reporting. He openly implies he doesn't have any real source telling him this by surmising that it had been declined solely because it hasn't happened. He doesn't have any inside info to offer on this topic.

People totally misconstrued that entire interview… which totally changed my view on sports talk radio btw. I listened to that show and it was surprisingly excellent.

Well, that's just SOP with this stuff. Every time The Hockey Writers (with all their cred harhar) or some team-centric blog throws out a wild suggestion it instantly turns into a rock-solid, bone-deep report.

Honestly, to be fair about it all, hockey is the major sport with the least amount of truly big scoops getting out. Soccer, baseball, basketball, football - they all spill a lot more than hockey execs/agents. I mean, soccer execs and agents really don't spill that much at all, and it's still at least twice as much as hockey execs and agents do.
