Description

Calgary has a lot of D and needs a forward who can play up and down the lineup. The Leafs need a solid 2nd pairing RD and kerf doesn't quite fit in with this roster anymore. I feel this trade helps both teams fill gaps where they have them. Both a 1yr away from UFA and share a similar cap hit.

You serious? Flames have a ton of capspace to extend Weegar who is a top 20 dman at worst. They arent taking a middle 6 scoring winger for a legit top 4 dman, especially after he has expressed an interest in staying in Calgary long term

Top pairing right defenceman don't grow on trees, let alone ones with team-friendly contracts. It's gonna take a lot more than a middle 6 LW you can literally get anywhere for very little

Yes, CGY will gladly trade a Top20 D-man to a 100th best forward or so in the league and 90th overall pick or so.

I'll post this here too:

Weegar's on a good contract for what he provides so ideally either a better future or a better player would need to be sent the other way in order for the Flames to consider.

If the Leafs had a forward in Sandin's situation it would make sense but they don't. Don't think the Flames would be interested in Sandin given they've got a logjam of guys on defense and Kylington is more or less in that role.
