seems like there is a lot of teams that need to move 1 contract. it's going to be interesting to see how they all do it.

I feel with arb many teams will exercise a 2nd buyout

Like for instance I see Boston using it to be able to fit Krejci, Bergeron and Zacha and the guy probs getting bought out is Foligno (would have said Rielly but Boston gonna need him with most of their Dcore hurt)

i was gonna say maybe EDM could move derek ryan, but then mcleod probably eats up that money + all remaining cap (im thinking he gets 1.5? oilersguy or beter can correct me on this) and they cant run with 21 players
foegele seems most likely imo unless they move barrie for a cheaper dman

For Mcleod 3 deals come to mind

1.4 mill x 1 years (Geekie SEA)
1.5mill x 2 years (Luostarinen FLA)
1.7mill x 3 years (Evans MTL)

But either way they got to move one of Foegele, JP, or Barrie to make the cap work. Ryan doesnt move the needle enough and honestly 1.25mill for a 4c aint bad

As for who I think gets moved probs Foegele but wouldnt surprise me if its JP

Think you mean one of FOEGELE, Puljujarvi or Barrie to make the cap work

But yes, agreed-a Luostarinen deal probably makes the most sense

Update on PK Subban per his agent

"He wants to play, I can tell you that," Subban's longtime agent, Don Meehan, told the Montreal Gazette's Stu Cowan. "But I think at this stage in his career, he would want to play somewhere that would provide a good opportunity for him.

To me that screams Seattle and honestly with his podcast could make for a great partnership

And

Dunn-Larsson
Oleksiak-Shultz
Soucy-Subban

aint bad

He doesn’t do his podcast anymore lol. And Schultz on the 2nd pair is bad. I don’t think there’s a single guy I’d like on the top pair either tbh. Soucy-Subban being a good 3rd pair is all that lineup has going for it

Elias Pettersson and Elias Pettersson can simply swap jerseys before the deal happens

Apparently the Sedins swapped jerseys during pre season games and all star games

Man despite how that franchise has been run

VGK depending on how things go can potentially bring in Kessel

All depends on Nolan's recovery progression and Brossoit being dealt

But still the fact VGK can continue adding big names despite being up against the cap and having poor front office player relations is pretty funny

The funny thing about the 13 is most were just AHLrs or Backups/Injury callups in truth if we go by 10+ games 13 becomes 8 with 2 being new and 1 being emergency callup because of someones inability to stay healthy

Man that one year was bad enough where we needed to call up 3 goalies cause Campbell and Freddie just couldnt stay healthy and randomly Hutch somehow carried

I’d say there is about 11 teams that need to move out a contract to get cap compliant, move a player out to sign a RFA or FA, or too many FWDs/Ds and could lose someone to waivers.
BOS - Foligno
CAR - Gardiner
CGY - Välimäki
EDM - Foegele
FLA - Hornqvist
LAK - Walker
MTL - Hoffman
NYI - Nelson
SEA - Donskoi
WPG - Dillon
VGS - Martinez

Not saying these will be all the players but certainly teams that will need to make a roster decision

Edit:
TOR - Kerfoot
Of course I forgot him

VGK don't really got to move anyone but brossoit as thanks to dumping Paches they can afford everyone and carry a 22 man team and carrying 3 goalies makes 0 sense

Everyone else I could see get bought out or dumped in a trade except maybe Dillon and Nelson

More likely Holl as honestly I feel Kerfoot might get kept. Yes there is risk but selling low on a 50 point guy just doesn't seem right and that to me is why he hasn't been moved yet

Or Gms are waiting for prices to increase again who knows

Still 3.5mill for a 4th liner who didnt play last year to me is not worth it. As honestly why spend on someone who didnt play when you could go out and get a Tyler Motte or ZAR heck even a Sonny Milano for half the cost.

As long as a player is providing sufficient value, I don’t think it matters much where in the lineup he plays, be it bottom six, 3rd pair etc.
If Wood returns to normal, I don’t think it’d be outlandish to say that he’d be quite a bit better than Motte or ZAR going forward.
Though you make a good point in Milano, I think he’s more talented than what Wood ever will be.

SEA has borgen, kempny, fleury on the right side on the third pair. I’d think he wants to go somewhere where he plays second pair

I’m not convinced PK can be trusted with that responsibility at this point in time.
Two years he really struggled on the Devils 2nd pair but had a decent last year on the 3rd.
If the Devils were to trade Severson in the near future I really wouldn’t mind having PK back for another year in Jersey until Nemec is ready.

I think Wood is a better fit for the 4th line than Milano even though Milano is the better player
